"Your highness, I brought you some tea."

"Thank you." she whispered, placing her teacup on the glass table.

"Anything for you mister?"

"He is a guard. Not a visitor." (y/n) scoffed, not taking her eyes off her paperwork.

With a quick nod, the servant left the hall.

"Damn, someone got a stick up their-"

"Hey! Watch your mouth or else I'm going to decorate my fireplace with your filthy head!"

He laughed and she couldn't help but smile to herself at his dumb attitude. Deep down, the Princess was still her old childish self. Who isn't really? She didn't have a happy childhood, so sometimes the once trapped kid she used to be found its way out whenever she felt even the slightest bit of enthusiasm.

"How was your childhood?" she murmured reluctantly.

Bakugou smiled to himself at her attempt of making a conversation.

"Well, I was poor, like most people around town. I at least had some food to eat every now and then. I started training at a young age to become a warrior, guard, soldier, jobs that my parents considered worthy. Not only in giving me money, but in making people respect me as well. All those thoughts disappeared from my head however, when my parents got executed for smuggling." he replied, his voice low and bitter.

"I'm sorry.. I really am."

"What are you apologizing for? You were my age, you didn't know anything. I wish I had realized that before I tried to kill you."

"I promise I'm not like them!" she exclaimed, her eyes landing on his. "Although people don't really believe me.."

He sighed and sat down on a chair across her.

"We'll see what the future holds, your highness." he softly smirked.

"We'll see." she replied. "Now who do you think you are sitting there huh? You are a guard! Stand straight and keep an eye out for anything or anyone suspicious."

"Yes!" he exclaimed, faking a salute. She hid her amusement and continued signing her paperwork.

She glanced at him for a second, her eyes landing on his emotionless face that was lit by the faint sunset as he was staring outside the large windows. His eyes seemed to hide a faint sadness however, and she noticed. She thought that it was normal for him to feel sad. Actually, homesick. In a way, she took him away from his family, or rather, friends.

But it was preferable by both of them, or else he would've gotten executed. Then again, she couldn't help but feel even the slightest enthusiasm at the thought of having someone else by her side, besides Momo and Todoroki. Yet, she still got the chills every time they were closer than normal. He was an assassin after all.

"Anything wrong?" he asked, his eyes meeting hers.

"Nothing," she faked a yawn, "I just finished with my paperwork that's all. Fancy to have a walk around the garden?" she asked and he simply nodded.

The sun had already set by the time they had gotten outside and the only thing that lit the small path between the red roses, apart from the castle's torches, was the pale moonlight.

"How about you tell me about your childhood this time?" he asked, walking behind her.

"I wish I had something interesting to say." she shrugged. "I never attended school, I had private lessons at the mess hall. I took dance classes, wore fancy dresses and accessories. I was.. a puppet. When I grew older and my parents died, I took matters into my own hands and changed many things about this castle. First thing I did was fire everyone who I considered untrustworthy and who I didn't have a close relationship with. Some of my parents' servants, however, still serve around the castle as my own. Those are the people who looked after me like their own child when my parents wouldn't even greet me in the mornings." she said, her hand tracing the red rose petals as she was slowly walking forward. "After that I decided to start combat and sword training. I didn't want to be a coward like my parents who always depended on the royal guards. I also started dressing however I wanted. My mentor helped me with paperwork and other matters, servants taught me basic stuff that I had no idea about. I tried to help around the castle as well, for example cook or clean, but I was told that everything was taken care of daily and that a.. Princess shouldn't bother to do stuff like that."
