The next day Lilith had a test in Slughorn's Potions class. She had been too caught up in studying in her head she didn't realize the blond behind her was talking to her. "Jones, I'm trying to talk to you," Draco said as he poked her in the back with his quill.
She jumped when she felt the pressure of the tip poke her back near her neck. "What?" she turned her head to answer him.
"Do you have the answers to the homework?" She scoffed and turned back around, to which Draco chuckled with a smirk.
"Alright, children," a croaky voice spoke as Professor Slughorn entered the classroom. He had his hair combed to the sides, a black cap on the side of his head, about to fall off, and an orange coat covering most of his body, "We will review two of the potions that will be mentioned in the test and were learned before- before the war," he whispered the last part. He clapped his hands on his chest and cleared his voice, "Alright, who can tell me the ingredients for the Amortentia potion?"
Draco and Lilith both raised their hands around the same time but Lilith was a little faster than Draco. "Yes, Miss Lilith?"
Lilith cleared her voice before speaking, "The ingredients required for Amortentia are Ashwinder eggs, Rose thorns, Peppermint, Powdered Moonstone, Pearl Dust, and Rose petals."
"Very good, Miss Lilith! Now what about an explanation for Amortentia, hmm?"
She raised her hand again but Professor Slughorn had already called on someone else. "Yes, Mister Malfoy?"
Why? Why did this always happen to her? Everytime she was going to answer something in class, Draco would compete with her.
"I believe Amortentia is described to be the most powerful love potion in existence. It causes a powerful infatuation or obsession. It has a distinctive mother-of-pearl sheen and steam rose spirals." Lilith could practically hear his smirk.
"Very in-depth explanation. Thank you, Mister Malfoy. Now who can tell me what the ingredients for Draught of Living Death are?" He paused before choosing one of the two hands that shot up to the air at the same time. "Yes, Mister Malfoy?"
Again?
"The ingredients for Draught of Living Death are standard potioning water, Powdered Root of Asphodel, Infusion of Wormwood, Valerian root, a Sopophorous bean, and uh... and-"
"And a sloth brain," Lilith finished for him.
"Yes, yes, very good Miss Lilith. 10 points for Slytherin!" He cheered.
Lilith turned around to face Draco and grinned at him. In return, Draco glared at her.
When Lilith finished her test, she felt confident in her answers. She had studied all throughout the week and did some extra practice during her weekend. She was feeling hungry though. All that thinking was making her starve, but luckily for her it was time for lunch.
She made her way into the Great Hall and smiled when she saw her Gryffindor girl friends sitting down, waiting for her to join them. As she sat down, Lilith had already started talking about why Draco needed to speak with her, and told them everything.
"So he really let you choose his outfits?" Hermione asked.
"Yeah, it was strange but whatever," Lilith replied as she played with her pudding.
"And did you choose ones that would actually look good on him?" Ginny inserted herself in the conversation.
"Don't know," she sighed, "But he would honestly look good in anything."
"Lilith Jones, are you falling for this boy?" Hermione exclaimed.
And then Lilith shot her head up at her, "What? No, no, no. I simply said he would look good wearing whatever. I don't have to 'like' him to notice how attractive he is. I mean, he's a jerk but even you, Hermione, have to admit he's hot."
