{Laria}

Everything's blurry, I hear voices as they'd come from some distance. It takes me a while to remember everything. Second me, second Cypher. I almost died there. If it wasn't for the poor aim of my copy, and, Cypher, of course, today would have been my funeral.

I feel someone's presence nearby, so I turn around. I see him, sitting right beside me on a chair, watching.

- You finally woke up. - he says, smile audible in his voice. - I'm sorry it had to happen to you, first.

- What happened, exactly? - I ask, my voice husky.

- Our concerns came true. - he replies. - We have some worse enemies now.

I sit up, feeling all my muscles tense as I do my best to move up.

- Where do they come from... - I whisper, trying to hide the pain I feel in my right shoulder.

- Don't move too much, you've been shot. - He grabs my healthy shoulder, but I push it away.

The second I do this, I regret it quickly. I didn't realize how much I wanted his touch.

- Don't worry about me, worry about our new problems. - I hiss, feeling the next wave of pain coming. - How's... did we transport radianite?

He keeps staring at me, in silence. Just watching me grimace in pain.

-I wish I knew, [y/n].

I look at him immediately, frowning slightly.

- How do you... whatever. It's not the biggest surprise to me.

- Lay down, Sparkle. I'm going to tell others you woke up.

I watch him walking out of the room, wanting to yell at him to come back. But I stay silent, closing my eyes and trying to get used to the new situation. Under my eyelids I see myself, my copy, just glaring at me, like I'd do something to her. Nightmares with myself are the last thing I want right now.

The following days I'm just walking around and try to work on my abilities, but I didn't do much. The shoulder still hurts me, although the week passed now. What could I expect, it won't heal that quickly. What I noticed is that Cypher is distancing himself from me. He just sometimes checks in whether I'm okay or not. He probably feels bad that something like this happened on my first mission. Don't give yourself any hope, Laria. .

I'm sitting in my room, thinking deeply. I'm considering running away. What I do here is walking, being bored, and not being able to get out. I feel like in a cage. They were lucky to catch me, it won't happen again, right? I know Cypher's tricks. This is risky, but if that's what my life will look like, no, thank you. I look at my hand and summon electricity. I'm still capable of this. Or more, I feel like I'm even more powerful. They can't get me now.

I stand up and pick up my backpack, putting things into it. I quickly throw my clothes, gadgets I found and close it. When I hear the door open I immediately throw it under my bed, heart racing.

- Greetings. - I hear Cypher's voice.

- Hey. - I nervously correct my hair and cross my arms. - Do you know what knocking is?

- How's your shoulder? - he asks, completely ignoring me. He approaches me and gently touches it.

It doesn't hurt me, but I hiss.

- It still hurts... I think I'm going to take nap.

- Oh, alright. - he nods, taking off his hat now and holding it to his chest. The silence follows.
