Lou's House

Bruce was alone in Lou's house in Tent City,

feeling lonely but not blue.

He didn't allow himself to wallow in self-pity;

He had a job and things to do.

He was scribbling notes on a piece of paper

so his men would know where to go.

He'd send them out for information later,

but he wanted to take things nice and slow.

Someone knocked on the door and he sighed.

"Coming!" He rose and opened the door.

Annie stood there in the afternoon sunlight.

"Why are you here? Brody doesn't live here anymore."

He couldn't help being curt.

He really had been fond of the redhead,

and seeing her leave him for Brody had hurt.

And now she was with Bart instead.

So why was she here?

He gathered up his things from the table.

"Take your time."

Into the bedroom, he went all alone

while Annie sat in thought.

Until she was done,

he would work on his plans.

A little later,

Annie knocked on the door.

"Bruce? I'm leaving now.

Thank you for...

Well, letting me in.

I know it seems strange but I feel like she's here."

Bruce opened the door to look at her.

"I know. I feel like she's near.

Goodbye, Annie.

I hope you find

what you're looking for

and sort through what's going on in your mind."

She gave him a smile with some of her old spunk,

and went away, no longer in a funk.

He spread out his papers again, with a feeling that he,

had somehow helped Annie. But how could that be?

It felt good to help someone out, and he knew there would be

plenty more opportunities if he made a deal with CG.
