Biting the Bullet

To a shabby hotel Raven was brought,

Then left alone.

He paced up and down.

 What had Father him taught?

 What had Father him taught?

"Play alongIn case of doubt.

Once you know the script,

Bite the bullet,

Don't admit."

From the window, soft knocks came,

He hopped onto the windowsill.

Carefully listened.

 The wind still.

Far afield, a bell rang.

He looked outside,

 View by a tree blocked.

About nightfall judging by the light.

 He was shocked.

Nothing much to tell about the ground.

"Well, it's green."

 He climbed down,

Almost dying from a heart attack.

Again knock. Knock. Knock.

He missed the carpet.

Not time yet, to hit the hay;

Up 'till midnight, he wouldn't stay.

A thoughtful look back at the tree.

A few minutes later, he was free!

Stuck in dung though

And face to face with mother cow.

Moooo!
