Luke's P.O.V.

"Boys!" I shout. "We gotta go!"

I grab Reggie, who puts up a fight,, and scan the room for Alex.

"Luke!" Alex shouts. I look up to see him in a ring hanging from the ceiling. "It's midnight! Julie!"

I cuss under my breath. "Get down from there."

He poofs down and the three of us rush toward the door.

"Leaving so soon?" Caleb asks, appearing in front of us.

"Yeah, we're sort of late for a gig," I say.

"Ah," Caleb waves his hands. "With the band you already have. Yes, I know. Just remember, you're welcome back any time."

"Sounds great," Reggie smirks.

Caleb reaches out and clamps his hand around mine, Reggie's, and Alex's wrists. I feel a slight burn before a purple mark appears.

"Just a little club stamp," Caleb explains.

"Cool," I nod. "And thank you again for everything."

Reggie and I rush toward the door before Alex finally catches up with us. We poof to Dahlia's school and run into the gym.

"Julie, we are ready to rock this dance!" Reggie shouts.

"Which is clearly over," I say, looking around the abandoned gym.

"You missed her," Dahlia says, popping a balloon. She's sitting on the floor, a pint of ice cream in front of her.

"What? Where did she go?" I ask.

"Home," she answers. "Well, Flynn's actually. She's staying there the rest of the weekend. Oh! And she quit the band."

"What?" Alex asks, stepping toward Dahlia.

"She was praying you guys had some sort of legitimate excuse for being late. She was even worried about you," Dahlia explains, popping another balloon. "But after she embarrassed herself in front of the whole school, which was actually sort of Nick's fault. He was just trying to be supportive but it sorta backfired-"

"Dahl," I cut her off. "Please."

"Right," she shakes her head. "After that, she said she quit. Before she left here she told me that if you guys showed up I need to tell you, 'if whatever kept you was something about getting back at Trevor, she's disappointed in you. The best way to get revenge on Trevor is to make this band great.' Then there was something else about how you abandoned her and 'bands don't do that to each other. Friends don't do that to each other.'"

"So she's done?" Reggie asks, though its much more of a realization than a question.

"We really screwed up," Alex says, running his hand through his hair.

"Dahl," I say, walking over to her. She gets off the floor and picks up her ice cream.

"Luke," she says, sticking the spoon in her mouth.

"How are you going to get home?" I ask, desperate for a subject change.

"I'm not going home, Luke," she shakes her head.

"Dahlia!" I hear someone shout from across the gym. "Ready?"

I look over to see Tyler grinning at her. She looks at him, smiles, and nods. She starts to walk over to him and I follow her.

"You're serious?" I ask. "Wait, you're really going home with him?"

She smiles at him again, ignoring me. I can feel a fire growing inside of me. It doesn't feel the same as the anger I used to feel when I was alive. It feels... stronger, almost alive.

"Dahl," I try to get her attention. "Dahlia, please look at me."

My hand passes through her arm and I see her give me a sideways glance. It puts a cannonball through my chest the way she looks at me. I feel cast off, rejected. Things I'm not exactly used to.

As her and Tyler are about to round the corner, she looks back at me and mumbles, "Relax. We're all going to Carrie's."

"Carrie's?" I repeat.

She nods before walking out of the gym with Tyler. The bonfire inside of me starts to mellow down to a tame campfire again as I put the details together. Dahlia wasn't going home with Tyler. She was going to her friend's house... with Tyler. That detail keeps my fire burning.

"Luke, what was that?" Alex yells.

"Sorry," I mumble. "I just... overreacted."

"We were talking about that," Reggie says, pointing to my feet. I look at them, flat on the floor. As they should be.

"My feet?"

"Not your feet," Alex says. "What they were doing."

"What are you talking about?" I ask, a genuine confusion falling over me.

"Luke," Alex shakes his head and takes a deep breath. "You were-"

"Floating," Reggie cuts him off. "You were in the air."

"No," Alex says, smacking Reggie. "I wouldn't say you were up in the air, but you weren't on the ground. It was like you were hovering or something."

"I was what?" I laugh.

"Levitating," Alex shouts. "Luke you were freaking levitating."

A.N.

Hi.

I took the freaking ACT today.... I hated every second of it. Anywho, my brain is officially fried now.

Much love!
