Talking to Tom

Terribly sorry for the late post
To forgive you all I'm posting two chapters today! :)

I wake up and Toms gone, I call the nurse in.

"Hi how are you feeling today Claire?"

She checks my vitals.

"I'm good, is it possible for me to take a walk around the floor?"

She writes down a couple things in my chart.

"Sure, if your feeling alright go ahead."

She helps me up and I start walking around the floor, I stop at the end of the hallway where the nursery is. I look in to try and see Caroline, but instead of seeing just her it's Tom holding her sitting in a rocking chair. I knock on the glass and Tom looks up, he waves me in.

"Tom how long have you been in here?"

I walk up close to him and he's staring into Caroline's eyes, she is smiling.

"I dunno since maybe 6?"

I bend down and kiss Caroline on her forehead.

"I was having trouble sleeping so the nurse allowed me in before you. I think it's time for you to feed her?"

He hands her up to me as a nurse walks in.

"Hey guys I was just coming in to grab her and take her to your room, do you guys wanna head back their for more privacy?"

I nod my head and we walk back to the room.

"Call if you need anything! We'll be coming in still to just check up on everything"

She walks back out and I start feeding her.

"So her middle is Jean right?"

Tom sits back down on his couch.

"Yeah I think that fits well, don't you?"

He turns his head.

"I think it does, I just don't think it will fit with the other names I have picked out?"

I laugh a little.

"Oh so your just deciding these names all by yourself before we even know where having another kid?"

He smiles.

"You know it! Plus you and her get the same initials"

He starts laughing.

"Oh boy, let's hear these names then. I'm gonna need to approve"

He gets up and grabs out his phone.

"Okay lemme just pull up the list,"

I laugh and shake my head.

"There's a list?!"

He hands me his phone and I read through all the names.

"I don't get why Caroline Jean doesn't fit with these other ones?"

He takes his phone back.

"Well they do but not very well?"

He goes to his photos and looks through them.

"What are you looking for?"

He lays down on the couch and holds his phone up still scrolling through it.

"Ah just the first picture I have of you..."

I jolt upright and Caroline starts to cry.

"Oh no it's okay honey...I'm sorry it's okay..."

I cradle her until she stops, Tom shares a photo with me and I open it up.

"It's you in the hospital, when I had to take one for your parents."

He shares another one.

"That's when you fell asleep on me, and this one is from Halloween!"

He keeps sending me pictures and I look at them.

"All I can think is that I was pregnant and didn't know it, oh and look how pale I was before summer. you know that's still when willow was our only dog...TOM!"

He shakes and sits up in his seat.

"What what is everything alright?!"

He gets up and walks over to me.

"Willow and Woody!"

His eyes open really big.

"They probably peed all over the floor!...great!"

I laugh and start to burp Caroline.

"Do you think I could just go run out and see them? Or do you need me here?"

I point to my purse.

"The keys are over there, go ahead. I think I'll be okay for awhile?"

He kisses me and then kisses Caroline's forehead.

"I'll be back as soon as I can, I love you both!"

He leaves the room and darts down the hallway.
