"Any longer and you're gonna burn them."

Elizabeth turned around from her place by the stove to face Sam. "I've got this," she told him confidently as he sat by the small table in their kitchen.

Their shared kitchen was created by the familiar atmosphere the two had grown so used to. Sunlight streaming in from the open windows as coffee brewed in its pot. Elizabeth flipped her omelet over just to see that it's contents had leaked through a small hole on the side of the egg.

"I told you," Sam taunted as he grabbed some orange juice from the fridge beside her. "I don't know why you even bother trying," he added as he poured himself a glass.

She poured whatever mess was left onto a clean plate. It may look like crap but simply throwing it away was not an option for her. "I'm bound to get it right one day," she told him as she took a seat opposite Sam at the table.

"Well just so you know," he started before taking a sip of his orange juice. "One day is very, very far away."

Scoffing, she grabbed the cup of coffee that Sam handed her with a scowl. "You going for a run?" She ignored his jab at her with a question of her own.

Sam rolled up the sleeves of his grey sweater before taking an apple from the fruit bowl on the table. "Everyday you ask me the same question knowing the answer," he commented with a slight shake of his head.

"And everyday you ask me one in return," she retorted as she scoped up a forkful of her omelet into her mouth. "Do I want to come with you."

"Do you want to come with me?" Sam said in unison with her. Already seeing the look in her face Sam knew the answer, same as everyday. "No," he answered his own question.

"I wouldn't wanna ruin your alone time with Mr. America," she joked playfully. Sam had told her that he'd started running alongside Steve Rogers himself. Well, he called it running but Elizabeth liked to call getting left in the dust.

Rolling his eyes at her, Sam got up to throw his apple core into the nearby trash can. "Actually, you'd be very helpful if you tagged along."

"And why would that be?"

"You know," Sam said with his back to her while the sound of the tap running filled her eyes.

"I really don't," Elizabeth hummed in amusement.

Turning around, Sam raised an eyebrow at her. "You know," he repeated as she held her hand out, signalling him to continue. "You're magic," he whispered dramatically as he did some hand gestures that mimicked her using her powers.

"How many times have I told you that it's not magic," she groaned out as she finished what was left of her breakfast.

"Whatever," the older man waved her scrutinising gaze away. "You could just make him feel a little bit tired then I'll swoop in and claim our victory."

"Our victory?" She repeated questioning.

"Hey, it's a team effort." Sam simply said as she laughed lightly.

"Well," she began with a smile as she stood up and placed her plates in the kitchen sink. "Better get ready for your date, Bird boy." Elizabeth patted his shoulder playfully before walking past him and heading up to her room to get ready for her day.

"How many times have I told you, I'm not bird boy and it's not a date!"

Elizabeth tended to avoid crowds at all costs most of the time. She didn't mix well with them especially since she had so many peoples emotions to deal with. It could cause some issues to say the least.
