"I don't see how lying about everything protects me." Ron retorted.

"Take a seat." Hermione demanded. Harry looked at a terrifying Hermione and decided it would be in his best interest to listen and do as told. Ron lacked the same self-preservation instinct.

"Mate..." Harry hissed.

"Ronald Weasley, I am already angry. Do not test me and do as I tell you before I make you." He took a reluctant seat. "Five and a half years ago, you and Alex were in Diagon Alley with your family. Alex noticed someone had been following the two of you, and sent you in to a shop to keep you safe."

"There was no one following us." He refuted.

"Yes there was. You didn't notice. The man approached her when you were gone. He told her if she didn't go with him, a friend of his would hurt you." Ron didn't look convinced. "For God's sake, she shared her memories with Dumbledore in the pensieve. This story is true."

"What's Dumbledore got to do with any of this?"

"She told him. He knows everything, and she showed him her memories to prove she wasn't lying." Ron submitted and kept quiet. "She left so that you would be safe. For a couple months, she was locked in a room on her own. No way out. When she finally managed to escape, she was caught almost immediately and taken to Voldemort. He had no form, but he could talk, and he had willing minions. He broke her spirit. He told her her mother was dead. She thought he was talking about Molly. She was too scared to try to escape again in case one of you ended up dead next. She thought that for several months before he eventually told her he meant his daughter."

"She got away though. Eventually."

"She went through a lot in that year. Stuff I can't tell you because it's really painful and personal. But yes, she got away. There were failed attempts, ones that came with severe consequences, but she got away and found her way home. And she was afraid she'd lose everything again so she thought keeping things secret was the only way she could still have her family. She didn't say anything about Quirrell because her biggest fear was literally under the same roof as her."

"She could have told us-"

"No, she couldn't have. She spent a year going through torture. She spent a year under his control and she was scared for herself and she was scared for you and that's not something you just get over. Do you know she's never had a good night's rest? To this day, her dreams are filled with horror and fear. Quirrell was so insistent on trying to get her back, even her friends could see he was weird during their DADA sessions. It's why she got one on one lessons with Snape." She put her hands on her hips. "The two of you have been judging her as though you think living through what she has was easy. Harry, you're not entitled to her lifestory. You hardly know her. She told a handful of people about everything. I was the first person she told anything. She let me in first as a test, I guess. Being a muggleborn, I would be less judgemental than people who were born into the wizarding world. She told Dumbledore in our second year. She was so afraid that she was the heir of Slytherin, even though I told her it was ridiculous. But she was so scared, she asked Dumbledore if she could leave Hogwarts early. It's why her move to Mahoutokoro was moved up four months early."

"But it wasn't her."

"No, it wasn't. She helped me figure out what was terrorising the school." Hermione put her hand to her head. "We're getting off topic. The point is, neither of you can judge her. Harry, you don't trust her because she's biologically his granddaughter but you trust Sirius even though he was actually raised in a dark family? She's proven herself over and over."

"She doesn't have to keep lying." Harry said.

"She doesn't owe you her life story." Hermione told him.

"Wait." Ron caught on. He turned to Harry. "You knew?" He turned back to Hermione. "She's my sister. Why did he know when I didn't?"

"Dumbledore said I couldn't tell anyone. I didn't know she was his granddaughter until Cedric died in the graveyard. Dumbledore said she already went through enough and that a scandal was the last thing she needed."

"And you got angry at us for not telling you about the order when Dumbledore told us we couldn't tell you."

"Listen!" Hermione cut in. "I'm not here for more arguments and petty fights. Now is not the time. The point is, neither of you have the right to be angry at Alex. So you will go apologise and be nice to her and be there for her when she needs you because I am mad at her and I have actual cause to be mad at her and I can't be mad at her and work through my feelings unless I know she's going to be okay and she won't be okay if her brother thinks she's evil."

"Wait, why are you allowed to be mad at her if we can't?"

"Because she actually wronged me. She hurt me. You guys are just annoyed because you feel entitled to something you are not. Do you understand me?" The boys nodded. "Good. Now, the two of you will go to her and apologise." Ron meekly raised his hand. "Yes, Ron?"

"If you're so angry at her, why do you care so much that we're not?"

"Because I'll always protect her. Even if I can't."

A/N- Hermione is amazing. Like, she put those boys in their place. I love her.

Favourite line is "Because I'll always protect her. Even if I can't." I kind of want a Hermione-Draco Alex-protection-squad team-up. It's probably never going to happen, but these two would make an epic duo 😭 anyways hope you enjoyy, x
