I felt all fuzzy and peaceful. I fluttered my eyes open and the room was dark with the only light coming through the window from the corridor and all the machines I was wired up too. I could hear the machines beeping in time with my heartbeat and turned my head to see Tommy watching me.

"Hey, how you doing?" He whispered as he smiled and kissed my hand.

"Tommy... what happened? Why am I in here?" I asked. I felt completely out of it. The last thing I could remember was those guys surrounding the car I hired.

"You were in a car wreck... you've been in a coma for about a week... you woke up earlier, do you not remember?" he said quietly as he ran his fingers through my hair.

I frowned as I tried to remember everything that had happened. My face dropped as I remembered what I was doing out that night of the wreck. "The baby... is the baby okay!?" I asked as I scrambled and put my hand over my stomach.

"Shhh... the baby's fine, you're fine... everything's okay" he said as he stood up and kissed my forehead.

"You need to lie back down in case you hurt yourself... you broke a couple of ribs" he whispered as he held me close to him.

I snuggled into his neck and let out a sigh of relief. I lay back down and I could feel some discomfort on my left side but nothing too sinister. I started looking around the room and I started to remember that I'd already woken up, but it was all super foggy.

"What happened when I woke up?" I asked as I looked over at him.

He smirked. "You got all sassy to Nikki" he smiled as he sat on my bed and rubbed my arm.

"I did?" I asked.

"Yeah... everyone's here... my parents, Athena, Sharise, all the guys and Michelle" he said. "You gave everyone a real scare" he said as his eyes started to water.

"Are you crying?" I asked as I put my hand on his face.

He turned away and kissed the palm of my hand as tears started to roll down his cheeks.

"Tommy don't cry... I'm fine" I said as I sat up and pulled him into me, gritting my teeth through the pain as I played with his curls.

I stopped as I had a flashback to being on a hilltop, sitting round a table with a little girl that had hair just like Tommy...

"I'm so so sorry, Vanessa. I want this baby with you, I was just scared. I wanted more time to have you all to myself before we had a kid, I wanted us to see the world and..."

"Tommy, we still can. Me, you, the baby, Sharise and the guys... we're all one big family" I said as I rested my chin on the top of his head.

"I know but... wait, what are you talking about" He sniffled.

"After this, I don't wanna go back to Salon Red. I wanna travel with you guys and Sharise" I said.

"But you worked so hard and you're in a contract and..."

I put my hand over his mouth.

"That's for me to worry about. Life's too short to be working in a salon where the only exciting thing is the prospect of opening up my own salon... and I'm not raising our child in a world where you're always on tour and I'm too busy working. It's not happening" I said.

"But how are we gonna get you out of your contract?" He asked.

"I'll talk to Jen. Things, they were different before the baby and the crash, I could've managed being in L.A. on my own but now, we have our little one to think about" I said as I wiped Tommy's tears away and pecked him.
