Fortune Cookies

Kehlani's POV

I sat with Diamonté in a Chinese restaurant as we were having our scheduled dinner date

We've been best of  friends since college and honestly, I wouldn't trade her for anything. We chose Chinese today because it hits better on Friday nights and we were getting bored of the house

"Hello, I'm Leah and I will be your waitress for the night. Are you ready to order?" The waitress asked and we both nodded before we placed our orders

"So how's your love life going?" I asked her and sipped my water pretending it's tea since I obviously knew what was going on

"Lani..."

"I was joking, but anyways I've been thinking. This lyric is just going on and on in my head" I said sitting up

"Oooh bitch tell me"

"Okay so it goes 'I go I go I go I go cra-" I started but was cut off by this stranger interupting our friendly dinner

"Oh my God your Kehlani" the woman gasped and I slowly nodded

"I'm such a big fan. Like I sleep, eat and sing your songs all day everyday. Hey Ricky it is her come here" she said calling over someone else

Diamonté just smiled politely as she this is regular for us. Though she isn't an artist or famous like me, she experiences these stuff when we both go out in public. She's a teacher by the way

"Oh shit it really is her, can we get a picture?" The Ricky guy asked and I nodded before flashing an apologetic smile to my best friend and got up to stand between the two fans and taking a picture

"Thank you so much" they chorused and I nodded with a smile. They left not long after and I sat down in my seat

"Sometimes I just wish I could just be somebody else. Like I love my life but I'm getting tired of this life with the paparazzi and not having the privacy to sit and dine with friends/family. I just want to be normal you know, out of this fame life at least for a day or so" I said

"I feel you, I mean not the whole being famous thing but I get your point" Diamonté answered

I was about to start a different conversation but the waiter came back with our orders

"Here you go, sorry it took so long, the fortune cookies were taking a little longer than usual" Leah said

"Its no problem but we didn't order fortune cookies" Diamonté replied

"I know, the restaurant gives free fortune cookies to its customers with each meal, anyways I'm gonna go and let you guys enjoy your meal" the waitress said then left

"Smells so good...you ready to dig in?" I asked looking down at the food, by the time I looked over at her again, she already started eating

"Damn bitch...fuck it up" I hyped before I started eating my meal

"I never had a fortune cookie before" Diamonté spoke up

We had just finished eating our food and we're just bumping to the music and chilling

"Me either" I said before grabbing one of them from the little basket. She did the same and we cracked them simultaneously

"By the morning, you will feel like a completely different person and find a certain someone" she read from her paper and I raised an eyebrow because that's what mine said too

"What does your say?" She asked

"The same thing" I replied, we both looked at each other before laughing
