Izuku and Izumi walked back into the living room alongside their mother, just back from their doctor's appointments.

"So? How did it go?" Toshinori asked.

Inko's smile was strained, but her eyes shone with pride as she held her daughter's hand.

"They say Izuku can alter inanimate objects if he touches them." She said.

  Toshinori nodded.

"It's a useful quirk. And Izumi?" He asked.

  Inko beamed.

"Izumi got my quirk! She's going to be an even better hero than I am!" She said.

Toshinori cheered, lifting his daughter up and spinning around.

Izuku had been forgotten, everyone was concentrated on Izumi, and how incredible she was.

Izuku was ignored, and left on his own in the doorway.

The four year old boy retreated into his bedroom, his absence only noticed by his sister.

It was another ten minutes until Inko and Toshinori would let their daughter go, promising a celebration party for her dream of becoming a hero coming closer than ever.

Izumi opened their shared bedroom door and hopped up onto Izuku's bed, tapping the sniffling lump under the covers.

"Izuku, it's Izumi. Are you okay?" She asked.

Izuku pulled the covers away from his face and nodded, but accepted the offered hug anyway.

"Come on Izuku, you're meant to be the big brother, why are you such a crybaby?" Izumi asked, stroking his bright green hair.

Izuku laughed a little, snuggling into his sister.

"Mummy said I look just like daddy, but I act like she does sometimes. Mummy cries at lots of things too, but she's not sad either."

Izumi fiddled with a lock of curly viridian hair.

"Are you not sad then Izuku?" She asked, earning an unsure noise.

"I'm sad that mummy and daddy don't like me anymore.. but I'm happy that you do Zumi."

The green haired girl smiled sadly, sighing quietly.

"I think your quirk's really cool Zuzu. Do you want to work together to become heroes?" She asked.

  Izuku smiled, wiping his eyes.

"Okay. We'll be the best heroes ever together!"

Their promise was broken a few years later by a blonde haired 'friend'.

Izuku opened his eyes nine years later. What had happened? He couldn't remember..

The green haired boy tried to scratch his head, but couldn't move his right arm. Actually, he couldn't feel his arm at all.

Izuku tried sitting up and groaned, earning the attention of a short, elderly lady.

"You're awake! How are you feeling sonny?" She asked kindly.

  Izuku squinted at her.

"I feel sore.. my vision is all blurry.. and I can't feel my right arm." He said.

The nurse nodded, planting a kiss onto his forehead, making Izuku feel far less pain than before.

  "Thank you." He said shortly.

The nurse nodded, turning back to her desk.

"I'll let the rat and Aizawa know you're awake. Just sit tight sonny." She said.

Izuku nodded, but his brain was working overtime.

*Where have I heard that voice before? Who's the rat? Where am I? What happened?*

Izuku glanced around the room, then down at himself.

  That's when he saw it.

Izuku stared at his right arm.

Or where his right arm used to be.

The short sleeve of the hospital gown dangled from the misshapen lump that remained of his shoulder.

Izuku stared for a moment, before he reached out and touched the lump. His eyes lit up in realization, remembering the events that had led to this point.

  "Bakugo.." he muttered.

"Who exactly is this Bakugo? A friend? An enemy? The monster who did one of the most appalling things to another person I've ever seen?" A quiet, angry voice asked.

Izuku flinched, turning to face a hobo man and... a creature of some sort. A dog, rat or a bear? In a suit? Wait..

"I'm Nezu, the principal of UA high school. May I ask for your own name?" Nezu asked politely.

  "I-Izuku Midoriya sir.." he replied.

The intelligent animal smiled, sitting down in a chair beside Izuku's bed. The hobo man remained standing, with a look of concern on his face.

"Now, young Midoriya. Aizawa here found you bleeding in an alleyway. He brought you to the closest nurse, which happened to be UA's very own Recovery Girl. Would you like to see the extent of the injuries?" Nezu asked kindly.

  Izuku hesitated, but nodded.

"I already know I'm missing an arm. What could be worse?" He asked hoarsely. It was getting difficult to talk.

Nezu seemed to understand, and gave Izuku his mobile phone and a mirror.

"Your phone was next to you in the alley. Use it to type out whatever you wish to say, your vocal chords are damaged quite badly."

Izuku nodded silently, taking the mirror with a look of thanks to the headmaster. He held it up and looked.

The entire right side of his face was red, and raw. His eyeball was undamaged, but he had large star shaped marks on his face, the 'arms' reaching over his mouth, nose and forehead to the left side. Izuku had no cheek on the right side, so his teeth were exposed to the open air. His nose was okay, and his ear was a little red and raw, but fine too.

He was of course missing his right arm.

Izuku's throat had taken an almost identical beating to his face, only not quite as severe. The red was starting to fade already, but his voice still wouldn't work. Recovery Girl took the chance to tell him about his injuries.

"Your vocal chords were all but ripped out. I did my best, but you'll probably need to learn sign language, or think of something similar for when your voice fails you. You won't lose your voice completely, it'll just get difficult to speak after talking for a period of time. Your arm had been ripped off. Even I can't grow back or reattach limbs, I'm sorry. The remains of your upper arm needed to be removed, as the shards of bone were irritating the flesh and preventing it from healing properly. Your neck will heal completely with time. Your torso is surprisingly undamaged. Your face however, is a different story. I'm afraid the only part of your face that is going to heal properly will be the burns that don't scar. You can get a special mask to keep your teeth covered, but that's all we can do, even in this day and age. I'm sorry sonny." She said.

  Izuku shook his head.

"No, it's.. okay. Thank you for saving my life, I probably would have bled out if none of you had helped. Do you know what happened to my hair though?" He asked.

  The heroes looked confused.

"Your hair? Why, is it different from before?" Aizawa asked.

  Izuku nodded.

  "It used to be green.."

Izuku now had a head of pure white hair.
