Tis The Season

Camryn's POV

"How bout this one?" Pea asks

"Uh, no." I say

"Whatta you mean no? It's just a tree." Pea says

"To you it's just a tree. I have never had a Christmas tree. Ever. It's more than just a tree to me." I say

"It's gonna go in our home." I add with a warm smile

"Okay, we'll keep looking." Pea says as he throws his arm over my shoulders and we turn down the next aisle

"That one." I say as I point at a tree

"It's perfect." Pea says

"You pick one?" My dad asks

"She says that ones the one." Pea says as he points at the tree

"Alright, I'll load it in your truck. You're coming to Christmas dinner, right, Cam? You too, Nik." My dad asks

"Yeah, we'll be there." I say with a warm smile

"Excuse me. Excuse me, are you Camryn Andrews?" A man asks as he walks over to us

"Yeah, that's me. And you are?" I ask

"I'm Aaron Hawkins. I was your adoptive parents lawyer." He states as he pulls out a card from his coat and hands it to me before he reaches into his bag and pulls out a folder

"This is the banking information for the account that all of their money was transferred to." He says as he hands me the folder

"There's a letter in there too. From them." He adds

"Have you read it?" I ask

"No, but I know it was written right before you moved to Riverdale." He replies

"If you ask my opinion, I think they knew they were in a hole to deep to dig themselves out. Bills were piling up so they both made a five-hundred thousand dollar life insurance policy each. Then they moved here where a serial killer is murdering sinners. I think your birth parents living here was what tipped it over on whether they'd move here." He says

"You think they wanted to be killed?" I ask

"I think they wanted you to have a nice life and I think they didn't want you to have to pay their debts." He replies

"If you have any questions give me a call." He adds before walking away from us

I open the folder only to see the bank account has one million dollars in it

"Holy shit." I mutter

"That's a lot of money." Pea says as I show my dad

"That is a lot of money. Don't go waving that around." My dad says as he closes the folder

-The Next Morning-

"Are we gonna stay at your dad's tonight?" Pea asks as he puts a shirt on

"No, I figured we'd stay home." I say as I button my jeans

"You called it home." He says with a warm smile before pecking my lips

My phone rings signaling I have a phone call

"That's what it is isn't it?" I ask with a smirk as I grab my phone from my dresser before seeing it's Archie and I answer the phone

"Whats up, Arch?" I ask as I put the phone up to my ear

"Meet me at your locker when you get to school." Archie says

"Why, what's up?" I ask

"Just meet me, Cam." He says before hanging up
