Harry POV:

After leaving Hermione I followed the writing on my hand around. Occasionally it got brighter into this really satisfying yellow hue but it disappeared as quickly as it came.

I was very tempted to run up to Gryffindor tower to get my map but I knew I would be wasting precious time and that was something I didn't want.

While I was wandering through the halls hopelessly following my arm, I couldn't help but imagine what my soulmate looked like. Maybe they would have black hair and green eyes.

Wait that's me...

Okay, maybe red hair.... the only redhead in our year is Ron. Ron is definitely not my soulmate. Sorry mate no.

As I wandered some more I completely gave up imagining altogether. I don't even know how I ended up in the dungeons. For the longest time, this place gave me the creeps.

There always seemed to be a growing patch of mildew growing in some corner, the dampness of the air made for a moldy smell. The torches down in the dungeons never seemed to work properly and the lights were glowing dimly. Up along the torches ran the tell-tail trace of rust, which was the sign of the lack of maintenance.

The only light that really seemed to be guiding me was the light from my arm, which shown the brightest. It was very convenient actually but I had completely forgotten what I was actually doing wandering around the castle.

...

Wait a minute my soulmate must be down here somewhere. That's what I was doing down here. Just when I was going to venture further a boy with shining blonde hair and green robes turned the corner.

When he saw his face dropped in shock, his gray eyes were completely panicked. Why was he so panicked to see me? Maybe he hasn't come up with a good insult for me or something.

"Malfoy have you seen a girl down here just now?" I asked trying to keep my voice as civil as possible.

Malfoy's face went from shock to utter confusion, his brow was wrinkled in an utterly un-Malfoy-like way and his eyes clouded over. His eyes drifted down my arm and saw the glowing. This time his eyes portrayed all of his emotions and they widened.

Almost as if he realized I was staring he regained his composure. "What in the name of Merlin are the likes of you doing down here?" He sneered.

"Don't be a prat Malfoy just answer the question," I snapped, he looked deep in thought for a second before answering.

"I don't owe you anything Potter, now if you excuse me I would like to go to my common room." He started sauntering off before I stopped him.

"Where are you going? Answer the bloody question!" I demanded and he turned around to look at me up and down.

Malfoy put on a carefully orchestrated smirk, one that had been well-practiced. Mostly with me, I guessed. "Careful Potter or I might get the impression that you want me to stay here with you."

I snorted a bit at this remark, was he serious? "You wish Malfoy!" I laughed. Something flashed across his face, his eyes met the floor for a brief second before turning away from me. Was that hurt?

A Malfoy hurt? Now that was laughable. The Malfoy family was widely known for their lack of feelings.

The mere suggestion of this Malfoy having feelings other than arrogance and selfishness was in-fact hilarious.

Before I notice he was gone that Malfoy had indeed left me here alone with my question gone unanswered. Who needed Malfoy anyways?

Just when I was about to turn away from where Malfoy had previously stood I noticed that my mark had reduced it self to a softer yellow color.

Was the girl with Malfoy but why didn't I see her then. She probably had to be around here somewhere but where did she go?

Then I retreated back up to Gryffindor tower utterly defeated.

Draco POV:

"You wish Malfoy!" He laughed, at me, he laughed at me. My heart dropped down into my stomach and my heart my stopped. Disappointment flooded me and hurt crowded me. Suffocating me.

"Yes I do," I mumbled under my breath not loud enough for him.

With all the Malfoy poise I possessed I turned away from the Gryffindor boy behind me and sauntered off once more.

I stalked down the halls leading to the Slytherin house feeling completely defeated.

I honestly don't know I feel so disappointed, I should be glad that he didn't figure out it was me. So why am I so disappointed?

Every step I took I dove deeper into my thoughts, until they started to consume me.

Maybe if the git wasn't so blinded by being straight then he would have noticed that his other half was right in front of him the entire time.

This notion made me start to wish for my affections to be returned. Just as the thought came to my head two hands slapped both sides of my face.

A suitable punishment...

And a reminder.

A reminder that some dreams can never be.

"Why are you walking so quickly?" A voice rang from behind me, snapping me back into real-life. From behind me the sound of clattering footsteps reverberated off the walls.

I slowed my pace down and Theo came jogging up beside me panting heavily.

"I'm not walking quickly, you're just walking slow." I retorted back and Theo gave me an eye-roll.

"I saw Potter back there, what was that about?" His voice raised a bit at the end and sounded more hopeful then it did curious.

The whole thing made me incredibly suspicious. "He was looking for someone, and that someone wasn't me." I gave a little shrug to give off the impression that I didn't care.

Theo of course saw right through it. "Huh right, elaborate."

"He was looking for a girl and wondered if I saw someone, but I didn't give him the satisfaction. It was all quite funny really."

"You're lying" Theo said stopping me to look me in the eyes

"He was looking for you wasn't he, but didn't realize it was you." Theo was on the nail correct. Which begged the question how did he know.

"I'm just guessing because you think he found out." He gave me a look that i couldn't quite decipher.

I took a deep breath and started spilling to Theo. "-it just really hurts you know."
