The present day
When the day turned into night the girls and Richard got ready for the dinner invitation from the wolves, as soon as Vanessa got dressed she went downstairs in their living room and found Alex and Marcus dressed up for the occasion.
"I thought you refused to get along with the occasion." Vanessa said.
"Well dear sister, it won't hurt if I become a non paid actor just for one night." Alex said with a smirk on his face.
"You're such a dick head." Vanessa purposely said in her thoughts knowing that her brother was able to hear it and causing Alex's lips to form a small pout while his hand was on his chest as if he was hurt.
"Alex." Katherine called drawing Alex's attention. "A word." She added before she turned and walked towards the main door with Alex behind her. Meanwhile Vanessa approached Marcus and sat on the couch beside him.
"So." Marcus awkwardly said earning Vanessa's attention, Marcus turned to her with a serious expression on his face and broke the short awkward silence. "Look, I don't want things to get awkward between us."
"Neither do I, but the thought of it changes everything." Vanessa said.
"Is it that bad?" Marcus asked her.
"No! I mean. It's not bad—" "then what is it?" He interrupted.
"Marcus." She said with a low tone.
"I get it, I don't deserve you." He said.
"No. You're the best person I've ever met and also the best male friend I ever had." She said as she slowly shrugged her shoulders. Marcus looked at her with disappointment, the fact that she knew the truth and still saw him as just a male friend made him feel a little hurt. "I don't want to change the way we used to live with each other." She continued, earning a sigh from him.
"I'm sorry, I just got a little carried away but it's fine I'll manage." He said, trying to cover up his hurt feelings.
"Thanks." She said with a smile, earning a nod from him as he tries to force a smile back. When Lily got down the stairs she saw Vanessa and Marcus seating in the living room quietly and said. "Aww just look at how awkward you guys look." The two friends just looked at her without response so she continued. "Where are the others?"
"Alex and Katherine are outside talking, I think." Vanessa said.
"And Richard?" Lily asked.
"I don't really know, have you tried the kitchen?" Vanessa asked, making Lily run super quickly towards the kitchen, her actions left Vanessa and Marcus looking at each other kind of confused. Meanwhile when Alex and Katherine got outside Alex decided to brake the silence. "You know I'm the crowned prince, It should be me ordering you around and not vise versa." He said while using his finger to point out the 'you' and 'me'.
