One month until Owen's deadline.

Owen managed to get five million by the time it was a week before the deadline. He was panicking. He constantly paced around whenever he was at the house, though he rarely was because he was out doing some job as much as he could, no matter what it was. But no matter how much he did, he wouldn't be able to get the money he needed. Even if Devan just gave him everyone's pay, it still wouldn't be enough.

Thanksgiving Day. Dead line.

Marcus said that Owen was going to have to go over by them to give them the money. Devan said that he was going to go with, and I demanded that I went as well.

We argued about it the whole night before, but I managed to get the last word in and I was going. Leon was coming along too. So we took a plane to Chicago and met up with Meselva's men at the airport.

They took our weapons and put us in the back of a van with no windows so we couldn't see where we were going, but I knew exactly where we were going.

"Just make sure that they don't see her face," Owen told Devan. "Otherwise they might want to keep her."

So I kept the hood of my jacket up and my head down. Leon stayed next to me. The hair on his back was on end and he was growling almost nonstop. We were in a large open room, people were everywhere. Marcus walked forward and didn't bother with a greeting.

"So, Owen," He didn't show any respect with a last name. "You got the money?"

"I have half of it," Owen answered.

"Where is the other half?"

"I don't have it yet."

Marcus laughed. "Then why did you bother coming?"

"Let my family go."

"Even if we had them, we wouldn't."

"What do you mean?" His voice changed to despair.

"We let them go. Now they're somewhere in America. Last we heard of them, your mother got married, and they had a son together."

I glanced up at Owen to see his expression of complete shock. I was shocked too.

"They replaced you," Marcus said.

Owen threw the case of money on the ground and turned to leave, his head hanging low. He walked quickly and Devan and I followed behind him a ways.

"Now where do you think you're going?" Marcus asked and some of his people grabbed me and Devan.

Leon bit the arm of the person who had grabbed me, so someone got a rope on him and closed him in another room. We could hear him barking and howling. Devan fought the men holding him, but stopped once a gun was pressed to his head. I didn't try to fight.

"No matter what they do to me, don't try to help me, got it?" Devan said to me.

"What?" I asked.

"Don't do a thing. Just get yourself out. Got it?"

"Devan, I-"

"Don't do anything. Don't worry about me. Just get out."

"Shut up!" Someone pushed us away from each other.

"Do you hear me?" Devan said to me.

I nodded, not wanting to do it, but I would do it for Devan.

"I still want my money," Marcus said to Devan. "But I was thinking that maybe I could just take your whole operation, and that would make up for it."
