Finally

Chapter 19

Mrs. Knight releases me after a while. Her eyes are watery. I force a small smile. I guess she believes it cause she smile affectionately at me. She turns to Aiden while regarding Amelia curiously. Aiden hold Amelia close. Amelia's giggles fill the air. Her big blue eyes stare directly at Mrs. Knights.

"And who's little girl could this be?" The question I was dreading. I froze waiting for Aiden to lie. I think I die when he answered.

"Mine and Lisa's." I thought I heard some proudness in his voice but quickly dismissed it.

"Yours?" Mrs. Knight glance between me and her son.

"We adopted her. Her name is Amelia. Do you want to hold her." Aiden switches her position so Amelia was fully facing Mrs. Knight. She give Aiden a shaky nod. Her hand trembles as she lifts it up to get Amelia. Aiden smiles fondly at his mom. His face showing how much he loves her and cares for her. I stand awkwardly during their exchange.  The baby food sliding all over my body.

In unwanted places.

Aiden and Amelia are also covered in food but not lot like me. Amelia laughs really loudly and carefree. Her eyes shining bright, drool falling out her mouth and on to Mrs. Knight but she doesn't seem to mind. I didn't notice that Aiden had come to my side he wrap his arm around my waist. I trip on my feet. Unexpected by the closeness. My side press against his. I stand very still, I feel breath on my neck. I now become immobile.

"Please just go along. We'll talk about this later. Please. Don't break her heart. Look at how happy she looks." Aiden whispers in my ear. I look at Mrs. Knight she indeed looks happy. Amelia is swung in her arms, her laughs loud and clear.

I nod.

He visibly relaxes. His shoulders relax and so does his face. His arm is still around me. I try to step out if his gasp but he tighten his hold. We stand for a moment watching Mrs. Knight play with Amelia. She turns her attention to us after a while.

"I'm sorry we weren't properly introduce. I'm Jane Knight." She smiles kindly at me. Handing me back Amelia, Aiden still beside me holding me close. I grad Amelia and rock her back and forth.

"I'm Lisa Grey. It's nice to meet you ma'am." I introduce myself.

"Oh dear none of that call me Jane. Soon you'll be like a daughter to me." She runs her hands through Amelia's hair. "So when are you planning on getting married. Do y'all have a date? How about one in our beach house or do y'all want a big wedding?" Mrs. Knight bombing me with questions panic quickly raises. Aiden must sences it because he cuts in.

"Mother. I just propose. We haven't had time to talk." Aiden tells her.

She nods. " Right all in time. Well I was just stopping by to to see you but you seem to be occupied. So why don't you and Lisa come to dinner tonight. Maybe we then can discuss plans. What do you think?"

It was at the tip of my tongue to decline but that was rude. So I simply nodded.

"Great come by seven. Oh, and Lisa you can invite your parents. I would love to meet them so we can both discuss ideas together. What do you think?" Ask Mrs. Knight but her questions and planning left no room for asking.

"Its only my mom and me." I answer quietly.

"Oh OK." She doesn't ask questions for that I'm grateful but I know soon she will, they all will.

"Great. So see y'all tonight." She kisses Aiden on both cheeks and hugs him tight. Whispering words I can't hear, she then kisses a sleepy Amelia. Lastly she hugs me careful not to hurt Amelia. Soon she's out the door and leaving me alone with Aiden. Amelia was falling asleep in my arms. I walk upstairs without talking to Aiden cause frankly right now I don't want to.
