Sans, for the first time in hundreds of resets, woke up with a smile. A real, genuine smile. He finally had a new day. A new experience where he wasn't repeating the same things over and over.

"SANS BROTHER, WAKE UP YOU LAZY BONES" Papyrus 'said', shaking Sans,
"uhh yeah I'm coming," Sans said, the words coated with tiredness. He wasn't exactly a morning person and normally didn't immediately get up. But today, every second would count.
"OK! IM GONNA MAKE MY NEW SPECIAL, SURFACE SPAGHETTI BREAKY!!!!!" Papyrus shouted with excitement, dashing out of Sans room leaving the door wide open.
Sans got up and grabbed his jacket, already dressed in his usual attire. It was so iconic around monsters so he wouldn't dare change it up.

"WAIT SANS, I FORGOT TO ASK YOU SOMETHING," Papyrus asked nervously
"what is it?" Sans asked, now nervous seeing his brother nervous.
"WHAT WERE YOU DOING OUTSIDE LAST NIGHT? AND DONT SAY "WORK" AGAIN," Papyrus asked, mainly out of curiosity.
" I-umm shouldn't you check on the spaghetti bro?" Sans said, succeeding on changing the subject, although not smoothly. Unsurprisingly, his brother didn't question it at all.
"OH YES!" Papyrus said, rushing back to attend to his glorious spaghetti.

Sans enjoyed the rest of his morning listening to Papyrus talk about wanting to join the  "surface royal guard" while Sans tried to explain that the police was not the royal guard...that failed. Ge wouldn't want to break his brother's dreams of being a Royal Guardsman.

"bro, I'm gonna go check out the outside world, ok?" Sans said. Due to the resets, Sans never actually got to see around the surface, so he decided he was going to change that on his new day.
"SANS!!! YOU ARE GETTING EXERCISE! THIS IS BRILLIANT!" Papyrus exclaimed in utter joy, seeing his brother voluntarily try to walk. It's a rare sight.
"uhh yeah. anyway-" Sans started.
"WE MUST CELEBRATE! WE CAN HAVE A PARTY TO CELEBRATE MONSTERS ON THE SURFACE, AND WHEN WE DO WE CAN ALSO HAVE A CELEBRATION FOR SANS NOT BEING LAZY!" Papyrus said, eager for this party. To Papyrus, Sans standing can be compared to someone completing 50 full marathons without a single water drop.

"uhh sure cool bro, now I go-" Sans once again tried to speak.
"IM GONNA CALL EVERYONE I KNOW...OR UHH EVERYONE ON THE SURFACE. I'LL BE BACK!" And with that, he went to his room to make his calls. Sans took that as his cue to leave the house. He wasn't going to stop him.

Frisk POV:

Surprisingly, my question was answered this morning, when I saw Sans and Papyrus's house randomly placed on the surface. I would ask how it happened, but in my adventures, I've found out magic can do practically anything. And that same word would be the answer if I bothered to ask anyway.

I wanted to follow Chara's advice and talk to Sans, so I made my way to the skele-house. Interestingly, I spotted the skeleton outside, taking a stroll around town. "Hey Sans!" I said energetically, trying to cover up my nervousness. He walked up to me.
"sup kiddo, tori let you out this early?" Sans asked as if all the tension from yesterday disappeared. Sans could easily cover up his emotions.

"Sans it's 1 pm, and I kinda forgot to ask Toriel if I could come out, but im sure she will understand..."  I replied, scratching my head.
"Ugh, you bore me. Just be like the comedian and get to the point." Chara interjected, wanting to see some drama. Chara loved drama, for whatever reason.
"So uh, I wanted to talk about you-know-what so uh yeah," I (very smoothly) said. It wasn't an easy subject to talk about especially between the two.

"sure" Sans responded, showing no emotion and staring at me blankly. I knew he wasn't very happy, his mask of emotion couldn't cover that.
"So, I was thinking last night, and I thought of something that can benefit us both," I said, looking up at Sans with newfound courage.
"Alright, what are you thinking," Sans said smirking, surprisingly. It almost sounded like a business proposal.
"Where are you going with this, we didn't think of anything," Chara asked, almost sounding concerned. I almost wanted to say something along the lines of "you didn't want to be involved!" but I didn't want to look crazy.

"I won't reset as long as nothing bad happens," I said. "If something, for instance, a death occurs, I can load/reset to try and prevent it." I finished. Sans was thinking and I couldn't tell what he was thinking about, due to his blank expression. And when I say blank, I mean his expression with his huge grin always plastered on. Finally, he said:
"Ok"

It worked?

"Just okay?" I asked, shocked that there wasn't anything else added on.
"your deal is solid, I accept," he said. "I kinda wanna look around so I'm gonna head off if that's all ya wanna say" He added on.
"Sure!" I said happily, now that dilemma was solved.
"Wait how did you-" I started, wanting to know how his house was on the surface, despite previously already predicting the obvious answer.
*woosh*
"Ugh, your stupid shortcuts!" I shouted in the air.

"So when did you think of that proposal?" Chara asked, intrigued.
"On the spot, but it worked out so everything's fine!" I replied, looking around to make sure no one was looking at me weird, as to anyone else, I was talking to the air. It was a habit to keep my non-existent reputation.
"Of course you did... well bye," Chara said bluntly, vanishing into thin air.
