"(Y/n)?" Hiccup tilts his head again, you had frozen mouth hanging open slightly, he presses his finger under your chin and pushes your jaw up to close your mouth "you'll catch flies."
You blink a few times then step back "you want me to tell everyone?"
Hiccup clears his throat slowly "uhm, well I'm just suggesting it."
"No."
"But."
"I said no!" You cross your arms, Hiccup runs a hand through his hair "I just think it would be a good thing, the gang will support you, everyone will."
You stay silent looking down at the floor "you're scared and I understand that but Berk is your home, we are all a family and wouldn't it feel better not having to hide?""It's more complicated than that." You sigh "you still don't accept it and you care about what people think...I know." He whispers "I just want you to feel more comfortable, will you think about it?"
You look up at him "I...ok." He rests his palm against your cheek and you lean into his touch "I know I can't understand how you feel every day, and it's easy for me to just say 'tell everyone'...I don't want to force you, I just think that maybe now is a good time. Plus it will be a huge weight off your shoulders."Maybe Hiccup was right, your parents surprisingly agreed when you told them that evening. You still weren't sure, this was your ability no one else's, you never wanted it and sometimes wished it would just go away. It was the reason you'd been so isolated for your whole life. Despite Hiccup telling you continuously that no one would turn their backs on you, that nagging 'what if' constantly lingered in your mind. You were scared.
——
"Hiccup." Hiccup turns around, holding a large pile of leather "good morning!" He beams, seemingly extra chirpy, his smile quickly fades when he notices your frown. He puts the leather down and excuses himself to Gobber, taking you outside and round the back of the shop, you lean against the wall with Hiccup standing facing you. "what's wrong?" He asks "if I have to tell everyone." You start but he quickly cuts you off "you don't have to do anything you aren't comfortable with, yesterday was only a suggestion."
You gulp "sorry, I worded that wrong." He leans forward "don't apologise, it's a big thing for you...and yes, it will shock everyone but I know they won't treat you any different....well, maybe accept the twins who probably won't leave you alone, they will love it." You chuckle softly at his words "yeah...they will."
"What are you thinking?" He asks, brushing your hair from your eyes, you inhale sharply "your mum...and Gobber...let's start with them. Part of me wants to hide it forever but I don't think I'll be truly happy if I keep doing that." You explain, Hiccup nods "this is entirely your choice, don't do it for anyone accept yourself." He says "I don't want you to think I'm trying to force you or anything."
"No, I know you're not. You're not that kind of person." You whisper, he holds you in a hug "you are a special lady, I want you to feel happy and free to express yourself with no worries." You hold onto him tightly, a single tear forming in your eye. Astrid stops in her tracks and stares at the two of you, watching as Hiccup pulls back and smiles warmly at you, a smile she'd never seen on him before. Even from the distance she was stood, the love on his face was radiating.———
"Ok, so why have the two of you rounded us here to the middle of the forest?" Gobber questions, he'd been asking continuous questions the whole walk, you just ignored him as your nerves were a good distraction from his rambling.
"Is something wrong?" Valka asks, worry evident in her voice, Hiccup turns to her and smiles slightly "no, nothing. It's just easier to be in this location is all."
Valka and Gobber look at each other for a moment, you fiddle with your fingers nervously staying completely silent. There was a moment of silence, Hiccup breaks it by clasping his hands together "right, so...we've brought you here because we...I mean (y/n) has something to share with you."You feel their eyes burning into you, you all sit on some fallen logs, you let out a shaky breath "you see...I was born with an ability...well two. I've kept them a secret, I was scared and I didn't feel normal."
Hiccup rests his hand on top of yours reassuringly "abilities? What are they?" Valka asks "one of them is telepathic. I can move objects with my mind...the second is..." you pause, Hiccup lifts your hand "hold your hand up." He says to Valka who does so, yours and Valka's palms connect and you project a gentle force, her eyes widen "a force?"
"Yes."
You nervously explain more to her and Gobber, they listened with fascination "how long have you known?" Valka asks her son "funny that, I actually found out by accident. For months I've been helping her with it, like practising her shots and trying to help her truly accept her ability." He explains, you smile at him "he's been amazing."
Valka beams "so that's why you were so concerned when (y/n) was under the mind control. You just wanted to protect her and her secret."
Hiccup's cheeks flush "aha, yep." You chuckle at him. Gobber takes your hand, holding up close to his face, squinting his eyes "where does it come out from? Is there a hole in your skin?" You roll your eyes lightly biting back a smile "there's no hole...but I honestly don't know how it works either." You pull your hand back "so how powerful is this force, exactly?" Valka then asks, without replying you turn to a large tree and shoot at it, piercing a clean hole through the thick trunk, Valka and Gobber's mouths fall open and Hiccup laughs "that's your answer.""Are you glad you told my mum and Gobber?" Hiccup asks, turning his head to look at you. The two of you were at itchy armpit laying on the grass starring up at the star lit sky, Toothless and Spear a few feet away playing tug of war with a large branch.
"Are you trying to hint that you were right?" You smirk, he flashes his teeth "not at all."
"Oh of course you aren't."
He sits up slightly looking down at you, still smiling (picture for reference.) "is that sarcasm?"
You look away from him trying not to smile, he chuckles and lays back down so he was on his front, shuffling up so his cheek was laying on your upper arm, looking up at you with wide eyes, your eyes slowly fall onto him and you crack a small smile and pat his head.
Spear stomps over, sitting beside you huffing loudly "someone lost the tug of war." You chuckle as Toothless comes past him with the branch firmly in his jaws, looking very proud of himself.
You sit up and pat Spear's side, looking out at the ocean "I fancy a late night fly." You say, standing up and climbing onto your dragons back. Hiccup was still laying on the floor with Toothless now poking him with his branch, trying to show it off to his rider. Hiccup shoos the night fury and also stands up "mind if we join you, m'lady?" He asks, you chuckle and nod "you don't have to ask, but you'll have to keep up!" As you finish your sentence Spear takes off, disappearing into the clouds, Hiccup jumps onto Toothless and they take off, quickly catching up to you.————
Sorry this chapter is a bit boring, I haven't been uploading as I'm really stuck on this story. Idk, a major road block that's taking ages to clear😅 I want to continue this but I just can't get the words out, it's frustrating...
