Roller Coaster

The meaning of a sentence circles around, sending me through a loop.

The speaker taps my shoulder, then repeats herself. She's part of my group.

"You're really scared of falling," she says as our cart makes its way toward the bend.

While looking over the side, my heart drops out of fear as though approaching its end.

When on mountains, I look for stair railings to make me feel safe time and again.

But this high may not have a gentle letdown like the sweet poems I write by pen.

Why someone with a fear of falling is on a roller coaster is a story all its own,

And so is my unrequited love for someone I once knew that was never said but shown
