The next morning, I get up before Oliver, since I didn't sleep all night, and go downstairs

"Good morning, sweetie!" My dad says when I enter the kitchen

"Good morning! U're up early..."I comment, leaving a kiss on his cheek

"Well, as u get older, u sleep and wake up earlier than other people...the odd part is u being up so early!"he says as I pour some coffee

"Yeah, I didn't get much sleep..."

"Is Oliver snoring?"

"No! God no! *sits next to him* I'm just kinda worried about this Aaron guy..."

"Why is that? Why would he keep u up?" he asks confused and I'm like if u knew, u'd understand in my mind

"Well...He just came out of the blue...do u even know this guy?"

"Aaron? I do, yeah! Well, I know his father better...we were together in college...he's a year older but we had a few classes together..."

"Wait, isn't Aaron like 40?" I ask and he chuckles

"He is, yeah, u were always good with telling ages!"

"Then how?"

"Well, when I met his dad, Stephen, his then-girlfriend was already pregnant..."

"Oh, I see...but I've never heard about him!"

"Yeah because we haven't talked in ages...I think Aaron was like 12 when I last saw Stephen!"

"So, did Aaron come find u?"

"Actually, no! I run into him 7 months ago at a Gala and I told him my then-capital consultant was about to leave for another job and he told me that he's a capital consultant and I told him to come get an interview and, long story short, I gave him the job!"

"Just because u knew his dad?"

"Of course not! All the applicants had fair shots...he was just the most qualified!"

"I see...and do u trust him? I mean, u barely know him..."

"Well, in that sense u should never hire people u don't know..."

"Yeah, u're right...I'm sorry, I just didn't like him very much...he seems a little strange..."

"Oh come on! Don't be so negative! He's a great guy! and very professional!"

"If u say so..."

"Maybe u should get to know him better...I mean, this company will be in your hands in some years, u have to be comfortable with its employees so u know whom to trust and whom to put in charge!"

"It will be a long time until then, u'll know better whom to put in your place..."

"Maybe, but after I'm gone, u don't know who will take advantage of that, so u'll be the one to decide who stays and who goes..."

"Ok, stop now, I don't want to think of a world without u!" I say and he smiles, taking my hand and kissing it.

After breakfast, I make an excuse about me going out to find something my boss asked me from a bookstore, but in reality I'm just going to find Aaron. When I get out of the house I text him

-Where are you staying at?

-Who is this?

-It's Felicity, where are you staying at?

-Not in a hotel if that's what you're asking...

-For fuck's sake, tell me where I can find you, it's important!

-Fine! Here *sends address*

"Want me to take you somewhere, Felicity?" Sawyer, our driver asks when he sees me

"If u promise not to tell my dad or Oliver or anyone in general... "

"Well, I think I've proven to u that I can keep secrets" he says and winks at me as he opens the back door

"Right... If u hadn't, u'd be either unemployed or dead!" I say winking back as I get in

"Man, if those backseats could talk!" he says before closing the door

About 15 minutes later, we're outside the house Aaron told me, so I get out and go knock at the door

"U were quick..."

"Of course, I told u it was important!" I reply getting inside

"To what do I owe the pleasure?" he asks after closing the door

"I'll cut to the chase: U either quit or I give my dad this *takes contract out of bag and shows it*"

"Are u blackmailing me?"

"Do u have a doubt? I was pretty clear..."

"U were, but I wanted to make sure u know what u're doing... I mean, it's funny u think I will respond to your blackmail!" he says crossing his arms in front of his chest

"Is it? Because, I think that the minute I show this to my dad, u're gonna be more than just fired..."

"Well, that's true, but this won't only affect me..."

"Oh, please, I can handle my dad! He will get mad, he will yell, but after a few days I'll go with my puppy eyes, ask for forgiveness and everything will be ok! Meanwhile, u're gonna get fired, he'll probably talk shit about u to everyone he knows and u won't land another job ever again!"

"What about Oliver? Aren't u afraid he'll break off the engagement?"

"Why would he do that? I mean, we didn't have an affair or something, so I didn't cheat on him while the contract was on... He will have to process it, sure, but if he got over me actually cheating on him, he will get over that too..."

"Wow, u thought of everything, huh?"

"Yep!"

"I see... *puts index on his lips* I have one last question though: why do u want me to quit so badly? I'm not bothering u in any way..."

"Are u kidding? How would u feel if u were to find out that someone has been using your daughter to get to u?"

"This again! I never used u! Our dads were friends in college! I could have gotten to your dad so many years ago if I wanted to!"

"Then why the hell did u decide to do it now??? *tears up* If I were u, I wouldn't want to be too close to the girl I used to be a sugar daddy to! I wouldn't want to risk anyone finding out! So why do u do that? Aren't u afraid?"

"No, I'm not!"

"Why??? Why am I afraid but u're not?"

"Because I know u would never let anyone find out! U're too embarrassed to let it out!"

"I am, but if it means that I'll finally get u out of my life, then I won't hesitate!"

"Why do u want me out of your life so bad? Again, I'm not bothering u! I've been your dad's associate for six months and I haven't done anything to let u know about it, I didn't even want to stay for dinner last night, but I couldn't find of a good excuse!"

"I just don't feel comfortable having u around!"

"I got that, but why? Neither of us will ever talk to anyone about our deal, so we're safe!"

"U don't understand..."

"Then explain it to me!"

"Seeing u last night brought back feelings I had forgotten I had, ok? There, I said it! Are u happy now?"
