"Hey! Dont throw the pie away! Give it to me. You're a monster! How can you throw A PIE away?" ella said looking bewildered

Gilbert gave her the pie and they just sat on the couch.

"So, have you thought about anything, you know the farm and the expenses for everything" ella asked him

"I-I dont-i dont want to-I never really wanted to be a-a farmer" he said stuttering

"Why are you stuttering?" ella asked chuckling

"I dont-you know-just you would think I am crazy or something like everyone"

"Well I am not everyone"

He smiled at her.

"But if not a farmer what about your future?"

"I think I want to fulfill my father's wish, he wanted to travel, I think I want to explore the world, thats what my father would've wanted"

"Hmmm, john would be proud, You can go and travel and then come back here and tell me EVERYTHING!" Ella said enthusiastically.

Gilbert hesitated but then said "Yeah...." but this wasn't the truth

"Well, I better get going, mother mustve been wondering where the hell I was gone for so long, I'll see you and take care"

She hugged him and when pulled away they were inches away from each other's faces. Ella finally broke the silence and said

"I-uh-better get home"

"Y-yeah-yeah-yeah"

She then left and when reached the house. She went to bed.

Next morning, she was very excited, it was christmas eve. The school was full of motivation. She went to school only to find josie insulting anne's family

"Anne is poor? What do you mean, "poor?" tillie asked

"Poor, as in: "penniless old fellow with no head for finance." josie explained

Ella went up to them "Oh josie, for once can you please say something nice about someone, or your parents only taught you to say garbage?"

"Ella, you know I am only saying the truth, and truth hurts"

"And what if I say your dear mother gave birth to an ugly dog" ella said and josie looked at her bewildered, ella continued, smirking "Yeah, truth hurts"

"The Cuthberts had to mortgage their farm." josie said

"Josie Pye, you take that back!" anne now said angrily

"Why are you upset? It's only true. You're poor. Wait. You didn't know? Do you at least know if they're going to keep you?" josie asked. The anger was burning inside ella.
