25. promise to never let go

when ricky left nini to be seated at the counter in the kitchen for a few minutes, he didn't expect her to not be there when he went back...but that's exactly what happened. she wasn't there.

"crap." ricky muttered as he rushed into the living room, looking all over for the brunette girl as he arrived towards ej and gina who seemed to be starting up an awkward conversation.

"um-"

"she's gone."

gina and ej diverted their attention from one another and looked right at the distressed boy in front of them.

"what-who?" the curly-haired girl questioned cautiously

"nini!" ricky exclaimed, gina and ej widening their eyes in response

"you lost her?!" ej asked

"i didn't-" ricky sighed "i sat her down in the kitchen and made sure she wouldn't move-"

"by making sure, i really hope you meant you either tied her to the table or something because from what it looks like, you didn't!" gina exclaimed frustrated "she's drunk and you lost her?!"

"i didn't-"

"don't say you didn't think because bowen i swear-"

"okay, gi let's calm down a little bit." ej said, putting his hand on her shoulder that made her look down before he quickly pulled his hand back

"where could she have gone?!" ricky huffed as he ran his hand through his hair

"maybe she left the apartment."gina suggested after glancing to the right

"why would you think that?" ricky asked

gina sighed, rolling her eyes "because the front door is open!"

the two boys looked over to the front door and sighed

"great. drunk nini alone in the streets of los angeles. what could possibly go wrong?" ricky questioned

"well, the paparazzi could-"

"he didn't actually need an answer ej!" gina groaned, grabbing her purse and coat as she made her way towards the front door

"what are you doing?" ricky asked

"oh, i'm thinking of maybe going to get my hair done!" gina exclaimed sarcastically, ricky rolling his eyes at her tone "i'm going to try and find nini."

"i'm coming with you." ricky said, taking his jacket and putting it on

"of course you are, if you weren't i would've dragged your ass down the stairs." gina snapped

"okay, wait i'm coming too." ej sighed as he took ahold of his phone "what?" he asked when seeing gina and ricky's faces

"um-it's your girlfriend's party." gina reminded him "your girlfriend's surprise party and you planned for her?"

ej stiffened and swallowed "yeah, well, nini's like a sister to me and she's wandering out and about at-" he checked his watch "eleven twenty in the evening-dang, time flies!"

"okay, let's just go." ricky sighed as the three ushered themselves out of the apartment and out for the search of the brunette girl

they all walked down the empty sidewalk, their footsteps echoing through the night while a bit of tension from gina's anger and impatience lingered in the air that surrounded them.

ricky walked a little faster to look into a pathway that was near, staying further in front of gina and ej who were currently walking in silence.
