Friday was soon approaching, and my nerves were getting the best of me. It was the first time going back to St. Louis since last year, and I didn't know if I was ready. I decided in order to have the best trip, I needed to put the past behind me and make the most of it. Before I knew it, it was Friday at noon, and I was at lunch. To my better judgement, I decided to post on Instagram that I was traveling home. I should have known better because three minutes later, I received a DM.

Dylan: Hey girl. St Louis, huh?You tryna see me while your here?

I rolled my eyes; such a Dylan thing to say. I quickly typed back

Me: you're** Keep dreaming, hotshot.

And locked my phone, rushing back inside to finish my work day. 5:00 came fast while I was finishing up some last minute paperwork. I had a huge project due in 3 weeks, and the sooner I completed it, the better. My hands started to shake from excitement when I clocked out. I had a week to myself, I was going to the Cardinals game and I was going to make the most of it. I was so happy! As I walked out the office, my phone went off again. Dylan.

Dylan: Cute. But don't deny me that fast. I know you miss me.

I couldn't help but laugh. Dylan really was a good boyfriend while we dated. He just had different aspirations than I did. Me: High-end corporate job – Him: Baseball. Oh, I guess I forgot to mention. Yeah, it's that Dylan. From the Cardinals. Ok, so hear me out. We dated in high school. I didn't think he would really make it in the big leagues because he was so small, but I was wrong. Oops! He never let me live that down, either. Not that I didn't support him, I was just too stubborn to give it time. And then when my dad died, I pushed him out of my life. I regret that so much. But ok, back to the important stuff. I quickly responded to Dylan, ran to the Jeep and got ready to embark on my vacation.

Me: You got me. I do owe you a drink or two. I'll call you when I'm there.

As I drove to the airport, I put on my sunglasses, let my hair down and opened my heart to the journey in front of me!
