Lunch Meeting

Unti-unti kong binuksan ang aking mga mata, sinusubukang hindi masilaw mula sa ilaw na nanggagaling mula sa bintana ng aking kuwarto. I blinked a few times as I reached for my phone placed on the side table. I opened it and turned my alarm off. I slammed it back on the soft mattress of my bed and forced myself to sit upwards. I stretched my arms as my mouth opened widely releasing a sleepy yawn.

It's Thursday, so I still have work in the office. I ran to the kitchen and drank a cup of cold water to wake me up. I ran back to the room and stepped in the bathroom. I took a shower and did my usual routine. Once I was done, I hurried back to my kitchen and made cold coffee.

I took out eggs and ham from the fridge and cooked it in the pan. While waiting for the oil to heat up, I picked my phone up from the kitchen counter and looked at the calendar for my schedule.

As usual, I don't have a lot of things to do this week other than work. I don't have any parties or occasions to attend to tonight, so that's my only available time. I looked back at the pan and placed the ham to let it cook for a bit.

Binalik ko ang aking tingin sa cellphone at pumunta sa text messages. I saw a message from Jade and Nica greeting me a good morning. I opened it first and replied to them. Nang matapos ay pumunta naman ako sa pangatlong taong nakapila sa listahan ng aking contacts.

hey, i'm only available at night time. is it ok if we meet after work?

Binaba ko iyon at pinagtuunan ang aking nilulutong pagkain. After cooking two slices of ham, I reached for two eggs and cracked it on the pan. Lumipat ako sa kabilang dulo ng kusina at kumuha ng tinapay mula sa lagayan. I threw it in the toaster and pushed the button for it to work.

Nang matapos akong gumawa ng aking pagkain ay nilapag ko ito sa aking maliit na lamesa. I looked back at my phone and saw a reply from Andre. I took a bite out off the sandwich and opened the notification.

I don't think I can do it tonight. Do you have a long enough lunch break or any kind of break?

Napataas ang aking kilay nang mabasa ang kaniyang reply. During lunch break? And, how does he know that we're near each other? If he really works at the same company as I do, then there's no problem. But, what if he's just there for a business meeting and he actually works kind of far?

My eyes widened upon reading his reply. How did he know? Nakilala ba niya ako kahapon noong nagkabanggaan kami sa kompanya? It didn't seem like he recognized me, so how did he know?

I unconsciously rolled my eyes as I typed in a reply. He does know. Alam niya ang mga kainan na malapit sa kompanya.

okay, fine. if you know where i work then u probably know that i only have an hour of lunch break.
