Finally

It was still early in the morning when we once again hit the road. Hindi pa gaanong sumisikat ang araw ay nagsimula na kaming maghanda upang makabalik nang maaga sa syudad. Nica and Jade also had some errands to run in the city. Kahit ako ay balak ko na ring kausapin si Andre patungkol sa aking pagbubuntis.

Napabuntong-hininga na lamang ako habang kalmadong nakaupo sa driver's seat ng aking pulang kotse. Nakaparada pa rin ako sa parking lot ng aking condo building. I'm currently staring at the bright white screen of my phone. Nakabukas ang contacts ng aking telepono habang nakatapat sa numero na binigay sa akin ni Andre.

I need to make sure first if he's currently home or not. Para alam ko rin kung saan ko ba siya pupuntahan. If ever he's in his condo, then I'll go straight there. But, if he's busy then I would reschedule my visit to him.

I let out another heavy sigh as I picked my phone up that was placed on top of my lap. I touched the screen of my phone as the pad of my thumb made contact with the call button. I raised my hand up to my ears as I kept on hearing the rings of the phone.

It took almost three rings before someone picked up the call. "Imo?" rinig 'kong pagbati ng mababang boses ni Andre. He's husky morning voice greeted me that made my heart skip a beat.

"Andre..." I whispered.

"Hmm?" he hummed.

"Are you free today?" diretso 'kong tanong.

Hindi ito agad sumagot ngunit narinig ko ang paggalaw ng bedsheet at unan mula sa kabilang linya. "I haven't checked my schedule for today. Why?" he asked.

"Oh, well, are you perhaps in your condo? Right now?" tanong ko pa.

"Yeah, yeah," maiksi nitong sagot. "Why are you asking though? And, you called at such an early time, Imo," he said.

"I'm coming. Don't leave, yet..." bulong ko.

Mahabang linya ng katahimikan ang sumalubong sa aking sinabi. Agad kumabog nang mabilis ang aking puso nang hindi pa rin ito sumasagot sa aking sinabi. Is he busy? I wouldn't want to disturb his work if he is. "Okay then. I'll be here 'til ten."

Agad akong nakahinga nang maayos kasabay ng pagsilay ng maliit na ngiti sa aking mga labi. I immediately ended the call and placed my phone on the phone holder. I raised both of my hands and gripped the steering wheel tight. I started the engine of the car and started driving to the direction of Andre's condo.

I hope that I still remember it correctly. I only had the chance to go to his condo once and that was it. Hindi ko na rin masyadong kabisado. But, if the streets that I'll run into looks familiar, then I can probably make it.

Halos kalahating oras din ang nagmaneho hangga't sa makarating ako sa harapan ng kaniyang malaking condo building. This is it. This is where Andre's living. I looked for a spot to park my car first before stepping out of the car. I picked my small bag up as I locked the door of my car.

I wore the black cap that I brought with me and walked straight to the entrance of the building. Dire-diretso akong pumasok sa elevator at pinindot ang palapag ng condo ni Andre. He's currently living at the second most top floor of the building. Doon madalas ang pinakamalalaki na condo room sa building na ito.

Ilang minuto akong naghihintay habang patuloy na nanlalamig ang aking mga kamay at paa. I've never been this nervous for a while now. Simula noong malaman ko ang tungkol sa pagbubuntis ko ay sobra na ang aking pagiging kabado. It was like the confidence that I had for the past six years quickly evaporated and I don't even know why.
