'I'd be lying if I said you didn't cross my mind'

I press tweet and slip my phone into the back pocket of my skinny jeans. I walk on stage for my performance, Colbie and I have gotten in a lot of practice and we worked it out so I'll be playing guitar and she'll be playing piano. To say I am nervous is an understatement. I'm terrified. I'm terrified that I won't make it to the finals, I'm scared that Cher won't make it. I'm scared that Zayn won't make it through with One Direction. There is only four of us left, I'm not ready to let this go. Not when it meant so much to Riley. Not when it means so much to me. I take a deep breathe and start strumming the chords as Colbie plays the piano.

"I miss those blue eyes,
How you kiss me at night,
I miss the way we sleep,
Like there's no sunrise,
Like the taste of your smile,
I miss the way we breathe,

But I never told you,
What I should have said,
No, I never told you,
I just held it in," I listen to Colbie sing. I take a breathe before starting my part.

"And now I miss everything about you,
I can't believe it, I still want you,
After all the things we've been through,
I miss everything about you,
Without you, woah..." I change the lyrics to brown eyes instead of blues eyes during the second verse. "I see your brown eyes,
Every time I close mine,
You make it hard to see,
Where I belong to,
When I'm not around you,
It's like I'm not with me,"

"But I never told you,
What I should've said,
No, I never told you,
I just held it in,

And now I miss everything about you (still you're gone),
I can't believe it, I still want you (and I'm lovin you, I should've never walked away),
After all the things we've been through (I know it's never gonna come again),
I miss everything about you,
Without you, woah..." I sing the background parts for her and finish off the song.

"But I never told you,
What I should've said,
No, I never told you,
I just held it in." I find Zayn standing in the crowd and sing to him. The lights dim and the crowd starts cheerly wildly. I wait for my feedback from the judges and I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I don't bother checking it and the lights turn back up.

"You didn't go unnoticed with changing the lyrics." Cheryl tells me with a laugh.

"Oops, those weren't the words?" I joke around with her.

"Even with changing the lyrics, you and Colbie did an amazing job. This is one of the best performances from you." Cheryl tells me.

"I agree with Cheryl, this was the strongest performance you've had." Dani tells me.

"You know I love your attitude, Diana. But this song brought a different view of you to the world, the vulnerable side. And it definitely won me over." Louis tells me.

"What can I say?" Simon drags on. Oh no, here comes time for the criticism. "You never cease to amaze me. This was by far my favourite performance of yours. You were comfortable on stage and you had the emotion behind the song. I would say it was... perfect."

"Wait! Did you camera men catch that? Simon said my act was amazing!" Cheryl says making the whole crowd laugh. "I'm gonna remember this day, you had nothing mean to say, Simon."

"Yeah, yeah." He waves her off and all the judges laugh. I exit the stage and catch Zayn's eye, he's waiting behind one of the sliding panels. He smiles at me slightly but I look away. I sit down on one of the couches back stage and watch as they touch up Cher's makeup and hair. My phone starts buzzing and I see a Twitter notification.

@Dancer34 ~ Team Diana all the way. #TillTheEnd

I favourite the tweet and RT it. I finally decide to check the text I got earlier and I see it's from Niall.
