That night Annabelle drifted off to sleep easily, the exhaustion of the fear landscape and the congratulations of getting into Dauntless hitting her and every other 'initiate' as soon as their heads hit their pillows. For once her night wasn't full of the stress of initiation or plagued by the thought of being Factionless. For once her dreams were peaceful and she hoped that would last.

Said peace abruptly came to an end when Annabelle was jolted awake as someone shook her shoulders, "What?" She asked groggily, not in the mood for her calm night to be interrupted. She assumed it was Tris or Christina - neither of whom she wanted to jeopardise her first good night sleep in weeks

"You can't stay here," the harsh, recognisable voice of Eric said, grabbing Anna's arm and yanking her up, "get dressed, we're leaving," He said, looking her up and down in her sports bra and cycling shorts. Annabelle had finally come to her senses, the tone of his voice making her quickly do as he said.

"What's going on? Where is everyone?" She asked, looking around the empty dormitory, that she knew had been full of sleeping people mere hour ago.

He didn't answer any of her questions as he waited for her to get dressed

As soon as Annabelle was fully dressed Eric grabbed her arm and dragged her through the Dauntless compound continuing to ignore her string of questions.

"What's going on?" No answer.
"Where are you taking me?" No answer.
"Eric! Where is everybody?" No answer.

Annabelle finally got the answer to at least one of her questions when the two of them arrived at the pit. Her fellow Dauntless members were lined up seemingly lifeless, moving as if they were robots.

A gasp left her lips as she saw the faces of her friends thoughtlessly queuing up for what looked like weapons. Why would they need weapons? Why are they lifeless? Annabelle thought. Just as she was about to yell more questions into Eric's ears a loud voice boomed through the pit, directed at them.

"Ah, Eric, found another divergent?" The Dauntless leader, Max, who had previously celebrated with those in the room said, as he pulled a gun out from his back pocket and pointed at Annabelle's forehead.

Annabelle stepped back in initial shock but quickly stood her ground. "Divergent? I'm not divergent."

"No, she's with me," Eric said, pushing Annabelle back slightly to stand in between her and Max's gun. "I trust her, she'll help us, that's why I didn't inject her."

"Inject me?" Annabelle said loudly finally gaining the attention of the man who had been ignoring her all this time.

He turned around his eyes harsh "I'd be quiet if I were you, Anna,"

"Have you gone soft Eric?"

"No!" Annabelle yelled interrupting the pair, "inject me? what? Is that what you did to my friends?"

"Anna, I said be quiet," Eric said calmly pulling out a gun like machine. It looked familiar to Annabelle - it looked like what he was holding after the final fear simulation. "Or i'll do it now."

Annabelle didn't say anything, she stared at the man her eyes wide, her head wracking the thoughts. The only reason she wasn't brainwashed like her friends was because of him. Why the fuck would he do that for her?
"This is bullshit," She said under her breath, she was angry at the situation she still knew nothing about.

"Take her to Abnegation," Max said, glaring at Eric, "If she doesn't help us... you know what to do,"

Questions, questions and more questions, that's all the journey to Abnegation was. The main one being why the hell are we going to Abnegation?

Annabelle couldn't help but worry about her ex faction and when she saw a group of people wearing blue it only heightened.

Abnegation was swarming with brainwashed Dauntless and overseeing Erudite. Something was wrong and Annabelle knew it. Abnegation members were being gathered and grouped and that's when she heard it. As Eric was dragging the ex-Abnegation girl, shots sounded followed by the screams of the selfless.

Annabelle's mind blacked, thoughts of her family's lifeless bodies laying on the grass, the faces of her friends standing over them weapons at the ready. Her mind was pulled from her nightmarish thoughts as Eric pulled her arm.

"Anna, you'd better come with me," His voice was low and threatening - threats Anna knew weren't empty.

"I have to find my family. These people have done nothing wrong. How could you think I would be okay with this?" Annabelle yelled at him, her head shaking vigorously, gaining the attention of some Dauntless, that weren't brainwashed like the rest. However, once Anna saw the blue band across their arm, she knew they would be of no help to her.

"You better think about what you're doing," He grabbed onto her hand as if to continue walking with her.

"No, this is crazy, you're crazy," She replied yanking her hand away and stepping back.

"I may have said I trusted you, but that won't stop me from killing you," Eric said, pulling out the machine from before.

Annabelle's resistance was futile as a dauntless who her yelled had alerted grabbed her and held her as Eric injected a serum into the girls neck.

As soon as Annabelle opened her eyes she knew she was in an Abnegation bedroom, the grey walls and grey furniture being the same she grew up with. She jolted up, relieved she was still alive, said relief quickly dissipating as she heard yells coming from downstairs. Despite her doubt Annabelle tried to open to door to the room, hoping Eric's trust ran far enough to leave it unlocked.

Her doubt was proven correct as the door did nothing but rumble as Annabelle tried to open it.

"Stop that," An unrecognisable voice spat from the other side of the door, the surprise from hearing a voice causing Anna to pull her hands away from the door handle.

A locked door and a guard, doesn't seem like Eric trusts me at all, She thought, rolling her eyes and walking to the only window in the room, pulling it open.

The girl nearly screamed in excitement as the window seamlessly opened with no hassle at all, "fucking idiots," she said under her breath, a smile forming on her lips at her escape route.

Annabelle popped her head out of the open window looking down at the ground. The height didn't even phase her, after all it was nothing she hadn't done before. She brought her head back into the room deciding it would be easy to exit 'backwards' - and that's what she did.

As the girl stood on the side of the Abnegation house, the yells of her ex-faction still being heard, she decided that climbing would take too long. So she jumped.
