With the additions of Ryan Graves and Dougie Hamilton on the back end, the New Jersey Devils have to decide who their top D pair is going to be. I would imagine that Graves and Hamilton will be paired together but where they fall among the six will be the question.
I don't think they should be the top D pair. Now maybe worrying about defensive pairing isn't important but it's something I want to talk about.
I think that Severson and Smith should be the go to guys. This past season they the Devils top guys on the penalty kill and Ty Smith, as a rookie, was quarterbacking the power play.
Smith, now coming into his sophomore season flourished with the leadership and veteran leading skills of Severson on his right.
This season will determine who gets to be the number one partnership and where Hamilton and Graves fall in the lineup.
