"What time are y'all coming back?"

I had just gotten out of my Uber and was talking to Della. She and Kiana were still at The Familiar Bar and after just a shot, I surprised the girls by saying that I was missing McKenna and wanted to be ready to go if she needed me.

"Heh... about that..."

As I turned for my front door, I pulled out I could hear a nervous tone in her voice.

"What is it, D?"

"Well, Victor showed up with his cousin and we're gonna go over to his place."

I scrunched my nose, knowing something was off... Della was the responsible one, almost to a fault, and going to some random guy's house didn't seem like something she'd be the poster girl for, but she was.

"Oh, yeah? What's his name.?'

"Bryan something..."

"And Kiana?"

"She's right in front of me in their car. We're gonna eat and watch a movie. You wanna talk to her?"

"And where exactly is this 'late-night dinner and a movie'?"

I avoided speaking to or about Kiana.

Suddenly I heard a little static and background noise so I knew I was on speakerphone.

"Shouldn't be much further, babe."

I smirked a little, surprised by the deep, booming voice on Della's end. A few seconds went by then I could hear Della laugh then snort the weird way she did whenever she was nervous.

"Well, damn Della Jean..."

"Jean? Oh, please tell me you've got a pair of cute little overalls stashed away somewhere."

The deep voice let out a chuckle before Della began to whine.

"Seriously, Tay...?"

Her voice was pleading and I smiled, knowing how rare my best friend was that flustered around a guy.

"Alright, fine, I'll shut up. Just... call me when you get there. And I guess I'll see you guys tomorrow. We can do brunch when you guys come get your cars."
