With a free day ahead of me, I woke around eleven that morning to my phone ringing.
I rolled over and grabbed it, seeing it was Jared's mom calling to FaceTime and I gladly answered.
The bright smile I was met by was always the one thing that could cheer me up.

"Mommy!!!"
"There's my sweet girl! How ya doing baby?"
She smiled and began rambling about everything she had done from the moment she and her grandparents got to the hotel.
"Well, I'm glad you're having fun, Kenna."
Just then, Lizette reappeared, letting McKenna know it was time to head downstairs for brunch. I sighed sadly, hiding it behind a fake smile.
"Alright, mamas... you're gonna be a good girl for Grandma today?"
She nodded and giggled a little when Lizette reached out and tickled her.
The smile on McKenna's face was the only thing that was on mind and I embedded it in my head, just so I could get through today.
"Have fun today, sweetie. I love you."
"I love you more, Mommy."
I smiled, feeling tears threatening to roll down my face as I shook my head.
"Impossible, Kenny."
After ending the call, I slipped my phone under my pillow and buried myself back under my covers, hiding away from the world, which only lasted about an hour.
Della texted me, letting me know she was still hanging out with the guy she met last night and it surprised me a little; she wasn't the one anyone would expect to run off with some stranger, so I invited the girls to come over Sunday for brunch so we could talk.
After finally getting up and taking a shower, I threw a few things in my day bag and hopped in my Jeep, ready to head for the beach.
With everything that was going on today, I just... I needed to get away.
After about a forty-minute drive, I finally made it to my favorite beach. It was always lively and people-watching was definitely going to be a great distraction.
