A Blessing

It was dark when Ibriam and Sanem returned to the hospital. They had stopped to get fish sandwiches for themselves, Aziz, Leyla and Emre. Coming out of the elevator Leyla and Emre were walking around by orders of the nurse. They stopped in the hall "You look like hell Sanem"........"Thanks alot Leyla. Here" handing her the bag of sandwiches and walked away. "Leyla, fucking leave her alone. She has had one hell of a day. She is mentally and physically drained. You two go eat. Show some appreciation, she was considerate enough to  to bring you food" Ibriam said and followed Sanem to Can's room. Aziz was sitting in the recliner next to Can's bed reading a book. First thing that came out of Sanem mouth was "Has Can woken up yet"........"No daughter. The Doctor did reduce more of his medication. Its just a matter of time that he could wake up." Sanem goes over to give him a kiss on his forehead. Ibriam handed Aziz his fish sandwich and the three of them sat down to eat. Aziz saw how drained Sanem was "Did you get everything Sanem?"....... "Yes".........Ibriam slides the briefcase over to Aziz "It's now in your protection"........"Sanem, it will be locked up in my office when we return home."......."Thank You"......."You look exhausted. After you eat why don't you crawl in bed next to Can and sleep"........"Papa Aziz, I really don't think I can sleep"......."Will see about that" Ibriam jestured to Aziz to follow him out in the hall. The Doctor was standing at the nurses station filling out medical reports. Ibriam walked up to him and explained to him about Sanem. He told the nurse to give Sanem something to help her sleep. The nurse got the pills and headed to give it to Sanem. When she walked in the room, Sanem had wrapped a blanket around her body "Are you feeling ok" the nurse asked as she felt Sanem forehead to see if she had a fever "I'm just cold and exhausted"......."Have you eaten?"........"Yes, I just finished a sandwich"......."OK, this is what you are going to do. Take these pills, crawl in bed along side of your husband and sleep so when he wake up you are rested"....... Sanem took the pills and layed down next to Can placing her head on his chest. The nurse took Can's arm and move it under her putting his hand on her waist and gently moving his head so his face was resting on her head . She covered them both up "Now sleep" and walked out the room closing the door behind her. Aziz and Ibriam were talking to the Doctor when she came over to them "She took the pills and is in bed with Can".........Aziz turn to Ibriam and said "I am going to stay with them tonight just in case Can wakes up. I'll call you in the morning" Ibriam went home leaving the Doctor and Aziz talking. They both walked back into Can's room after they checked on Emre and Leyla one last time for the night. Aziz made himself comfortable on the recliner "Hit the call button it he wake up. I will be in my office" Aziz sat there looking at the both of them as they slept together. Aziz noticed that Can's nostrils were moving as if he was taking in Sanem's scent. He moved his arm with the IV  in it across his stomach and rested it on there. Aziz hit the call button. In came a nurse and his Doctor "What's going on?" The Doctor asked "Watch, I think Can is waking up" replied Aziz. The Doctor and nurse watch and sure enough Can's eyes opened. The Doctor, the nurse and Aziz went over to his bed and stood there. "Welcome back Son" Aziz said in a happy tone. Can then looked up at them. He tried to say something but he voice was very raspy from the irritation in his throat from the tube. The Doctor then began to explain to him why he had a hard time talking. The nurse gave him ice chips to suck on to help. "How are you feeling. Just nod yes or no to my questions. Do you have a headache?" Can nodded yes "Do you know where you are"....... he nodded yes again as he tried to clear his throat. "Do you know who is laying in this bed with you"........."Very softly he answered "My wife Sanem"...... "Do you have any children"......."Yes, twins"........."Who is the man standing next to me?"......."My Father"......."If you can answer one more question for me please do so. Do you remember everything that happened"........"I think so! The last thing I remember was starting to climb down a pit and something hit me over the head. How is Emre?"....... Aziz answers that part "Son, your brother is fine. He is in the next room" The Doctor was very impressed with Can's answers and turn to Aziz "It seems to me that he has not lost his memory." Can tries to wake Sanem but she only moved to cuddle closer to him "Can, she is sound to sleep. We gave her something to make her sleep because she had not rested at all in a few days. She had a really rough day from mental and physical exhaustion."......"Ok"....... He wanted so bad to snuggled closer to her but his neck brace wouldn't allow it. "You need to wear this brace on your neck due to injury from the fall. Rest with your wife and I will see you in the morning. The nurse will give you something for your headache"........Can closed his eyes taking more if Sanem's scent in as the nurse put something in his IV line for the pain. The Doctor asked Aziz to come out in the hall to so they could talk.

Out in the hall:
"I think he will be ok, in the morning I will have the Respiratory Therapist come and work on his breathing. He needs to cough so his lungs can clear up. I think you can call now and make the arrangements for going home. But, only if a nurse is there to take care of them. Do you have a Doctor?"......."Yes, he will come to the house. My wife is a nurse and I am sure Sanem will take care of Can. We had contacted a travel nurse whom is a friend of ours and is waiting to see if she can come"........."OK, find out as soon as you can about this nurse. If she can't come, you need to let me know. Can will not be released until all of the actions are put in place. Can you give me the Doctor's name and number so I can call him and talk to him about what needs to be done to care for these two sons of yours. Aziz gives him the information and goes to make a call to Mihriban about Gamze. He than went to Emre and Leyla to inform them that Can had woken up and he has no sign of memory loss. Then eventually went back to Can's room for the remainder of the night.
