The sound of heels clacking on the marble floor got closer to his room.

"Sir Alatus! I have been informed that the Jade Squad just got ambushed, they requested backup, which should we send?,"

Verr bursted into his office, her face all tense.

Xiao smacked the table, sending the papers on his table flying.
"Shit! The Fatui's really not holding back this time...,"

He closed his eyes, calming himself.
"It seems that there's no other way... send the Glaze Lily Squad,"

"B-but Sir, that's the last resort, surely...,"

"I said what I said, call (y/n) here now, I need to have a word with her first,"

Verr nodded, and ran off to the communication room.

"Sir!"

You entered his room with a stern face, your overcoat following your movements.

"(y/n), no need for formalities now, we are in an urgent situation,"

The tired and sad look on his eyes made you realize.

"Xiao...,"

You walked up to him, he stood up to pull you into a hug.

"I'm sorry (y/n),... But you must go, I can't risk you out there, tell your men to wait downstairs, I'll lead them myself, you will wait here with Verr,"

"No! I am their captain, I will go. No matter what," you said, pulling away.

Xiao was stunned by your words, no one dared to defy his words before, especially when they were given a chance to survive.

"I understand your concerns, Xiao. But this is also my family, my home, and I will not run from my fight,".

You looked deep into his eyes, no intention to back down.

Xiao slightly chuckled as he leaned his forehead against yours,
"Then so be it, I wasn't expecting you to answer me like that though,"

You gave him a reassuring smile before vanishing from his office door.

Childe was sitting on top of the bodies, cleaning his blood stained throwing knife.

"Well, well, what an honor to meet the infamous (y/n) and her elite team,"

"Oh, I'm pretty shocked you are able to make the Jade Squad fall back, maybe I should talk to Shenhe regarding her actions towards surprise attacks,"

You laughed a little, then glared back at Childe,
"So? State your business for killing the members of the Liyue Mafia,"

"Oh my, and here I thought I'd be greeted with hospitality. Well, I supposed this is nice enough after killing around...10 of your people?,"

You felt anger building up on you as you walked towards him, whispering on his ear.
"Oh,... that's quite a number, isn't it? Let's see if I can do better than that,"

You snapped your finger,

Suddenly,

Bullets started to fire, the sound of people screaming can be heard behind Childe's back.

"Snipers, huh? Nice, and I'm guessing there's only the two of them...As expected from The Glaze Lily,"

He threw his knife to your face, you dodged it, but the late reaction left you with a scar of your cheek.

You landed a blow on his lower abdomen.
Childe jumped back, hissing in pain as he  realized your ring has been equipped with a little razor.

"My, my, sneaky, isn't she? Not bad for Alatus's little princess, I thought you climb up the ranks easily,"

You did not intend to let him catch a breath, immediately sending a kick to his face.
He blocked it, throwing away your leg, and tackled you, making you lose your balance.

You cursed yourself for letting your emotions get the best of you, leaving your open for attacks.
Your men were finishing off the rest of Childe's henchmen so they did not notice you struggling.

Your head hit the floor hard, and Childe's kick on your head made your vision blurry.

You saw him ready to stab his knife at you, 
As you began lose your consciousness, you saw a glowing green spear went through Childe's stomach.

He collapsed to the ground next to you.

You heard Xiao calling you before everything went dark.

You blinked your eyes, finding yourself on your bed, your wounds treated.
Seeing Xiao asleep on your side, you pulled your lips to a small smile, patting his head gently.

"Not many people dared to touch the Boss of the Liyue Mafia so casually, you know,"
You jumped a little, shocked by his sudden comment.

He sat up slowly, caressing the bandage on your cheek.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry I didn't arrive earlier,"

You rubbed his hand softly,
"No, it's okay, you saved me. It was partially my fault for letting my anger got the best of me,"

He pulled your face closer, kissing your forehead.
"You did your best and you're still here, that's all that matters,"

"Now, get some more rest, I won't leave you,"
He sat next you, letting you rest your head on his lap as you slowly drifted to the land of dreams
