Tw: Talks of suicide

𝓠𝓾𝓲𝓷𝓷

I end up going back to school the following week.

It's unfair to use what happened to Della to stay out of school that long. Even if Jordan, Poppy, and Casper insisted that I should stay out longer.

Besides I need a distraction.

Not that Jordan isn't a great distractor but I needed to catch up on my reading anyway. The end of the year is coming up in a few months and I need my grades to be flawless.

"Dean Anderson would like to see you in his office." Terry says as I open the door to my room.

I had been going through the last lesson in history when she came knocking at my door.

I turn my head to see Poppy giving me a 'what does she want?' look.

I turn back to Terry, "Okay, I'll be there in a moment." I let her know.

With a nod and a look of pity she heads back to her room.

"What was that about?" Poppy asks as I slip on my shoes.

I shrug, "The dean wants to see me."

"Could it be about the plaque they found in Della's room?" Poppy asks and I freeze.

I totally forgot she had it.

They had gone through and removed everything from her room before cleaning it. They had to have found the plaque.

"Possibly." I say before putting on my sweater.

Once I am in his office, Dean Anderson has me take a seat in the chair across from his desk.

"I want to discuss something with you." He says and I nod assuming it's about the stupid plaque.

I don't see it hanging on the wall behind him so maybe he hasn't gotten around to rehanging it yet.

"Well three things actually." He informs me.

He sits straighter in his seat like he's preparing to land a major blow.

Or he's nervous of how I will react.

"As you know what happened to Della was devastating." He begins.

"First I want to let you know that our councilors are here for you and your friends. Well a re-reminder since none of you have signed up to talk to them."

Okay Mr. Passive Aggressive.

"Secondly I know how much you wanted your own room. Room D03 has been cleaned and if you would like it is yours."

Is her seriously offering me Della's room right now?

I shake my head, "I am fine where I am." I tell him.

He nods, "Alright, I do hope you know I will be asking Lilian if she would want the room as well."

"Okay."

This time he fiddles with his tie, "Now lastly I want to talk to you about raising awareness. Della's incident has opened mine and the others staff eyes on how dismissive we can be in this world."

He takes a deep breath, "I know this is a lot to ask but as student body president I ask that you speak during the assembly tomorrow. Give a small speech about Della and about how checking up on your friends is important. I hope that's not too insensitive for me to ask."
