Chapter Seventeen - Lance VS Octus

After the intermission, the Sports Festival resumed and the first match was underway. The first fight ended in a hard fought victory for Todoroki against Midoriya. Octus observed the fight and could see that something during that match threw Todoroki off his game. Soon enough, the next match was underway. Lance and Octus made their way to the arena.

Present Mic(Intercom): ALL RIGHT FOLKS, OUR NEXT MATCH IS UNDERWAY! FIRST WE HAVE LANCE OF CLASS 1-A! AND HIS OPPONENT IS FELLOW CLASSMATE AND ONE OF THE MOST DOMINANT PROSPECTS CURRENTLY IN THIS TOURNAMENT! GIVE IT UP FOR NEWTON!

As Present Mic announces the fight, the crowd cheered. Lance kept his focus on Octus. Lance quickly realized that he had something none of Octus's previous opponents had. Lance knew what Octus was. However, Lance knew that trying to use this advantage was easier said than done. Meanwhile at the stands, the students of Class 1-A discussed the fight.

Tsuyu: I wonder who's going to win this fight?

Mina: I think Lance has this in the bag.

Kaminari: I'm not denying that Lance is good, but Newton is insanely strong!

Jiro: He won because you overused your Quirk. I doubt Lance will make the same mistake.

Yaoyorozu: But Newton has shown us that he's a force to be reckoned with. He's proven that he's faster than Iida and may be stronger than Todoroki or Bakugo.

Bakugo: Fuck off with that shit, Ponytail! That plain faced jackass just got lucky! Him and the extra he's fighting better watch themselves! If any of them get matched up against me, those bastards are going down!

As Bakugo said this, Todoroki looked upon the impending fight with great interest. At the same time, Ilana looked upon the impending fight, unsure of what would happen. While Lance was strong, Octus was on a whole other level. 

Midoriya: Ilana? What do you think of this?

Ilana: I...I don't know. Both are strong in their own right. Lance is quite tenacious and won't give up without a fight. But Newton....there's nothing I could say that would accurately describe his abilities. 

Midoriya took note of Ilana's words as all of Class 1-A prepared to watch the match between Lance and Octus. Back at the fighting stage, Lance and Octus prepared for their fight. Soon enough, Present Mic announces the fight. 

Present Mic(Intercom): CLASH!

As the fight began, Lance attacks first by charging at Octus and begins throwing punches at Octus, but Octus was able to block Lance's attacks with ease. As Lance attempts to blitz through Octus's defense, Octus parries one of Lance's punches and proceeds to unleash a series of fast paced strong attacks. Lance found himself on the defensive as he was unable to defend himself. 

Lance: (Damn it! He's too fast!)

As Lance attempts to find a way to push back against Octus's attacks, Octus grabs Lance and attempts to throw him out of bounds. But Lance was able to get back up. Immediately, Octus charges at Lance, but Lance rolls out of the way. Lance then attacks Octus with a series of kicks, but Octus was able to react quickly enough. As the two fight it out, everyone in Class 1-A was in awe. 

Mina: Wow! Look at them go! I can barely keep up with them!

Midoriya: It seems Lance and Newton are equally matched. Based on how their fighting, their Quirks seem to be...

It was at this moment that Midoriya began to mumble to himself. Ilana had her eyes on the match, not knowing what would happen. Todoroki was doing the exact same thing. Back at the fight, Lance once more attempts to blitz through Octus's defenses, but the robot proved too quick and durable.

Octus: I have analyzed your tactics and predicted your next moves. At this rate, you'll simply tire yourself out. 

Lance: Guess I'll just have to keep trying until something works.

As Lance said this, he manages to kick Octus in the face. He follows through by landing a series of power strikes on Octus. As it seemed that Lance was about to gain the upper hand, Octus counters Lance's attack. Without warning, Octus lands a powerful punch which knocks the breath out of Lance. As Lance gets back to his feet, Octus attacks Lance with a series of focused and powerful attacks on Lance. All Lance could do was hold up her arms and block Octus's attacks. Lance quickly found himself unable to attack. But suddenly, the attacks stopped. 

Lance: (Octus stopped? This is my chance to....)

Midnight: LANCE IS ELIMINATED!

Upon hearing this, Lance was in shock. In response to this statement, Lance looked down to see that he had been pushed out of bounds. Lance had been so focused on blocking Lance's attacks that he didn't notice that Octus had deliberately planned this. 

Present Mic(Intercom): WHAT A BATTLE, FOLKS! WELL HERE YOU HAVE IT! THE WINNER OF THIS MATCH BY RINGOUT IS NEWTON OF CLASS 1-A! AND JUST LIKE THAT, HIS DOMINATING STREAK CONTINUES! 

As Present Mic announces the winner of the match, Octus walks up to Lance. Lance was quick to notice something familiar about Octus's method of winning the fight. 

Lance: That's what Tokoyami did to beat Yaoyorozu.

Octus: That strategy was the best way to ensure victory. It was a valiant fight. 

Lance: You didn't too badly yourself. 

With that, Lance and Octus made their way back to the stands. With the match over, Octus would advance into the semi final rounds of the tournament.
