Chapter Twenty - New Hero Names

After the Sports Festival, Ilana and Lance along with Octus returned to UA to resume their Hero Studies. As the three went to class, there was still excitement over the results of the Sports Festival. Aizawa then entered the classroom and calmed the class.

Aizawa: Today is arguably one of the most important days of your first year. Not only will you be deciding on your Hero names, but you'll be starting your internships.

Ilana: Internships? 

Aizawa: Now as some of you already know, the Sports Festival was a proving ground to showcase your abilities to the world. As such, you were also being scouted out by Pro Heroes. You will be choosing which Hero you'll be interning for. But first.....

Before Aizawa could finish his sentence, Midnight entered the room.

Aizawa: Forgot to mention, Midnight will be overseeing this and make sure your names are okay. I'll be taking a nap.

Before anyone could say anything, Aizawa had already gotten inside his sleeping bag and took his nap. Midnight soon took control of the class.  

Midnight: All right listen up! As your teacher said, you're going to be picking code names for yourselves! Keep in mind that these names must reflect you and your hero desires! After deciding on your code names, you will present them to the class and we'll see if it needs any kind of changing!

Midnight begins handed out canvases in a seductive manner for them to write on. As the other students began writing their Hero names, Ilana as well as Lance and Octus took a moment to think of their names. Ilana wanted a name that would inspire hope. Lance wanted one that carried strength. Octus already planned to use his true name. As for Ilana and Lance, they decided on using the names of their armors. When everyone was done, Midnight turns to Ilana. 

Midnight: Ilana! What is your Hero name? 

Ilana walks to the front of the class with a smile on her face. Without hesitation, Ilana presents the class with her hero name. 

Ilana: Call me Corus: the Symbol of Hope!

Midnight: I see you've taken some inspiration from All Might with the "Symbol of" title. Lance! What about you?

As Midnight calls Lance to the front, he walks up to the class, though he didn't have the same pep in his step as Ilana did. He simply holds out his sign. 

Lance: Manus. 

Midnight: Manus? 

Lance gave no explanation over his choice of name and he wouldn't give any. He simply walked back to his desk and takes his seat. Puzzled, Midnight simply accepts Lance's name and moves on to Octus. 

Midnight: Newton! What about your Hero name?

Octus walks up to the class. He looks to the board and showed it to the class. 

Octus: Octus. My Hero name will be Octus. 

Midnight: Hhm....an interesting name. 

As Octus took his seat, the rest of Class 1-A had come up with their Hero names. As they all decided on who they would be interning for, Octus saw an overwhelming number of requests of Pro Hero who wanted him to intern with them. 

Ilana: Look at all the Pro Heroes who want you to intern with them!

Octus: 4,125. 

Lance: Looks like your performance left quite the impression on all the Pro Heroes. 

Ilana: Who do you plan on interning for?

Octus: I'm not quite sure. There's not much any of them could offer me with the exception of my curiosity. 

As Ilana looked over the names of the Pro Heroes who sought her internship, one of the names intrigued her. 

Ilana: Hawks? 

Octus: Keigo Takami, Japan's Number Three Pro Hero behind All Might and Endeavor.

Ilana: Perhaps Hawks could help me understand what I need to be the Symbol of Peace for my people. 

Lance: If you're going to intern with Hawks, then I'm coming with you. 

Ilana: Looks like you got a request from Hawks as well. What about you, Newton? 

Octus: Perhaps I will intern with Endeavor. Since he is Japan's Number Two Pro Hero, it would be logical to intern with him. 

As the three picked the Pro Heroes they were going to intern with, Lance was still cautious. It had been several weeks since the Mutraddi attack during the USJ and they have yet to send another monster after them.

Lance: Octus, have you detected any Rift Gate Openings?

Octus: None since the USJ incident. 

Lance: I don't like it. It's been too quiet. The Mutraddi should've sent something after us by now. Especially after we killed the monster they sent.  I doubt they would give up on finding you so easily. You're too dangerous to be left alive as you pose a great threat to them. 

Ilana: There's nothing we can do about it at this time. If there's any Rift Gate opening, Octus will notify us immediately. And if it's the Mutraddi, we'll deal with it. 

As Ilana said this, Lance was still skeptical. It was unlike the Mutraddi to be this quiet for so long. The fact that the Mutraddi had yet to send another monster after them concerned him greatly. Soon enough, class ended. As all the students went to the Heroes they would be interning with, Ilana and Lance went to Hawks's Hero Agency while Octus made his way to Endeavor's Hero Agency. With the internships underway, Ilana and Lance as well as Octus were ready to give it their all. But what they didn't know was the the Mutraddi were in fact on their way to Earth.
