Chapter Thirty - The Beast Forest

As Class 1-A began moving through the Beast Forest, Ilana and Lance kept their guard up for any traps set by the Pussycats. The roars were a dead giveaway that something was up. 

Ilana: That doesn't sound good! I hope Bakugo is okay!

Lance: Whatever happens to Bakugo is on him! 

Suddenly, loud explosions were heard in the distance. Soon enough, Class 1-A caught up with Bakugo blasting his way through a group of Earth Beasts.

Bakugo: COME ON YOU FUCKING EXTRAS! LETS KILL THOSE THINGS!

As Bakugo said that, an Earth Beast gets the jump on Ilana. Before it could attack, Lance shatters it with an enhanced punch from his Manus Armor. As another Earth Beast was about to attack, Octus steps in and easily destroys it. 

Octus: These Earth Beasts appear to be manifestations of one of the Pussycat's Quirk. 

Lance: We can't stay here long! We have to keep moving!

Class 1-A continued making their way through the Beast Forest while fighting off the Earth Beasts. For Lance, this environment was familiar to him. He thrived on the chaos of combat. As the battle dragged on, Octus began carving a path through the waves of Earth Beasts. The Earth Beasts were no match for Octus. At this point, Bakugo was getting annoyed.

Bakugo: THERE'S NO FUCKING WAY I'M LOSING TO SOME PLAIN FACED NERD!

A fierce one sided competition broke out between Octus and Bakugo. While Bakugo unleashed the full might of his Quirk on the Earth Beasts, Octus was simply curious about Bakugo's behavior. As Class 1-A struggled, Ilana rallied her classmates. 

Ilana: DON'T GIVE UP HOPE NOW! WE CAN DO THIS!

Inspired by Ilana's words, Class 1-A gave it all they had. Soon enough, Class 1-A made it to the training grounds where Aizawa along with the Wild, Wild Pussycats were waiting for them. Students from Class 1-B were there as well. The students of Class 1-A were visibly exhausted. The only exception was Octus.

Kaminari: So....tired....

Sero: No kidding....

Mandalay: You all did good. Looks like you have 30 minutes to spare. Not bad considering what you were dealing with. Especially you, Newton. 

Octus simply nods to Mandalay as Ilana took a moment to catch her breath. She then turns to her fellow 1-A Classmates. 

Ilana: The heart, body and mind. Join as one. 

Ilana smiled at the hard work of her classmates. Lance showed no visible expression. 

Monoma: What's wrong? Is the great Class 1-A is feeling the pressure?

As  Monoma mocked Class 1-A, Ilana turned to Monoma. 

Ilana: There is no need for such words, Monoma. We're all trying to be Heroes. Perhaps we can end the rivalry between our classes. 

Monoma: Oh I see. You're trying to walk away and claim to be the better class! Typical 1-A arrogance! I wonder how far your class would actually be if it weren't for Newton. 

At this point, Lance stepped in. 

Lance: Back off. 

Monoma: Or what? You're going to hit me?

Lance: I would most certainly like to just to shut your mouth. 

Monoma: Big words, Lance. 

As Monoma said that, Lance clenched his fists his anger. Ilana and Octus could see that Lance was getting ready to punch Monoma. Before an all out fight could broke out between Lance and Monoma, Ilana stepped in between the two. Aizawa and Mandalay also stepped in.

Ilana: Don't do it, Lance. It's not worth it. 

After a moment, Lance calmed down and walked away. 

Kaminari: Man...and I thought Bakugo had a temper. 

Tooru: Lance looked real scary for a second! Still kinda cute....

Aizawa: Enough fooling around. Everyone head inside. The Pussycats have arranged dinner for us.

At that point, everyone in Class 1-A and Class 1-B were excited about the prospect of eating after a long trip. Aizawa was quick to point out a reminder.

Aizawa: Don't forget that those who failed the Final Exams will be having remedial classes after dinner. So don't dawdle.

At that point, Mina and Kirishima along with Sero and Sato were disheartened. Despite this, everyone enjoyed dinner that evening. As they ate dinner, Lance talked to Octus. 

Lance: Has anything happened since the Rift Gate opened?

Octus: I've detected no activity since the opening of the Rift Gate. 

Lance: But that doesn't mean the Mutraddi haven't arrived. We have to be prepared for when when they make their move. 

Ilana: We'll worry about the Mutraddi when they arrive. And besides, this training camp will help us prepare for when the Mutraddi attack. For now, we should enjoy the festivities. I am most excited for what this training camp has to offer!

As Ilana expressed optimism in the training camp, Lance wasn't convinced. Lance's instincts told him that the threat of the Mutraddi was near. It wasn't long before Kendo approached the trio.

Kendo: Hey. I wanted to apologize for what Monoma said earlier. He was way out of line.

Ilana: You don't have to apologize. I'm sure he'll realize the silliness of this rivalry. At the end of the day, we all want to become Heroes. 

As Ilana accepted Kendo's apology, Ilana began the slow and difficult process of ending the rivalry between Class 1-A and Class 1-B. After dinner, all the students rested for the night, preparing themselves for the training ahead of them. Meanwhile in the outskirts several miles outside the Beast Forest, the transport ship lands. When the door opens, Lurtz and the Mutraad Elite charged out of the ship. In that moment, the Mutraad Elite had landed on Earth and they were prepared to hunt down their target.
