"Guys, stop it now," Y/n giggled, shaking her head at her playful colleagues. "Yeah, well, time for you to get rid of us now," Eun-hee said with a playful smile as she got up from her chair.

"Mhm, yeah. See you later, Y/n," Bethany said, giving her a quick pat on the shoulder before leaving with her handbag. "Do not forget my pending treat, you two!" Y/n shouted, making both girls laugh.

Now the office was empty, and Y/n was the only one left working. She had to wrap up after taking a week off for a trip with her fiancé, Taehyung.

Y/n and Taehyung had been dating for two years, and their relationship had been smooth sailing. They were a happy and healthy couple, and that's all they ever wanted.

It had been two weeks since they moved into Taehyung's house together, and they were living happily. They had four meals a day, had clothes to wear, and a roof over their heads. It was everything they had ever wished for.

With no complaints about life, Y/n leaned back in her chair and gazed at a polaroid on her table. The picture captured a moment of her and Taehyung hugging, their eyes locked onto the camera.

The picture was from their trip to Busan, where they had a lot of fun with Taehyung's parents. Y/n's soon-to-be in-laws treated her like their own daughter and were more excited about their marriage than the couple themselves.

"Just a week to go," she whispered, adoring the picture. Her phone suddenly rang, startling her for a moment in the otherwise empty office. "Oh hey, Taehyung," she murmured, trying to calm her racing heart. "Are you here?"

"Yes, I am. Hurry up," Taehyung replied before ending the call. Y/n quickly packed her belongings, clearing her desk. Her eyes glanced at the clock, which read 11:46 PM. It was probably the first time she had worked this late in the office.

Shaking her head, she hurried to the elevator, pressed the ground floor button, and leaned against the wall. The cramped space made her think about the need for repairs in the entire corridor. How could the boss prioritize the office's interior appearance over the exterior?

Her handbag felt heavier than usual today due to the extra paperwork she had to bring home. Sometimes she regretted having a job, even though Taehyung insisted she didn't need to work. As the CEO of a renowned fashion brand, they had enough money, but Y/n found satisfaction in keeping herself occupied while he was busy with work.

As the elevator doors opened on the ground floor, she spotted Taehyung waiting for her beside his Mercedes. "Why are you going home so late today, Y/n?" the security guard smiled kindly at her as she tapped her office identity card to mark her exit at 11:52 PM. The 63-year-old security guard was known for his kindness.

Y/n returned his smile and replied, "I have a lot of pending work to catch up on, Uncle." The guard chuckled as she walked out of the building.

Y/n walked wearily toward Taehyung, who stood with his arms open wide. She immediately found solace in his warm embrace. "I'm so tired, Tae," she mumbled, her voice muffled against his chest. He gently stroked her hair and used his other hand to open the car door. "I know, baby. Let's get you home," he whispered soothingly.

Feeling weak, Y/n sank into her seat as Taehyung closed the car door behind her. "Y/n, you shouldn't be overworking yourself just two weeks before our wedding," Taehyung expressed his concern. Y/n's eyes twitched involuntarily upon hearing his words, as she fought to stay awake.

"You know I have to catch up on all the work, Tae," She rubbed her eyes and sat up straight, gazing out of the window. Taehyung's hand reached her thigh while his eyes remained focused on the road. "I can talk to your boss about it, okay? It'll only require a little money-"

Her eyes widened in surprise at his suggestion. No way, he was planning to bribe her boss with his reputation and money. "Tae, no! I chose this challenging job, so I'll handle it gladly," she protested, whining in her seat as his grip on her thigh remained firm.

"Ugh, fine," he mumbled under his breath, conceding to her wishes. Y/n smiled quietly, knowing he couldn't go against her will. This guy truly loved her with all his heart.

Soon, they arrived at their home, a grand mansion belonging to her fiancé. The guards opened the gates for Taehyung's car to enter. Y/n didn't stare in awe; instead, a few painful memories resurfaced. It reminded her of her ex-boyfriend, Jeon Jungkook.

Jungkook had been adopted by Taehyung's parents, and he was meant to be a significant part of her life before Taehyung came into the picture. Tragically, Jungkook's life was cut short in a car accident three years ago, in mid-January, at the age of 25.

Jungkook's parents had helped Y/n move on, and it was during that time that she grew closer to Taehyung. He made her feel love again, even though it initially felt like a betrayal to Jungkook's memory. But people said it was what he would have wanted.

Their love eventually became mutual, and now, Taehyung was the most important person in Y/n's life. There was no greater priority for her.

"Baby?" Taehyung's voice interrupted her thoughts, snapping her back to reality. "We're here," he said, unlocking her seat belt. Y/n stepped out of the car as Taehyung retrieved some paperwork from the backseat.

She stared at the imposing mansion before her, her arms wrapped around herself. On this hot summer night, chills ran down her spine, and she couldn't help but be reminded of Jungkook's lingering presence. It felt as if he was still by her side, never truly leaving her.

Y/n felt Taehyung's hand sliding into hers, and they exchanged smiles before entering the mansion together.

Despite the past and the haunting memories, Y/n couldn't help but believe that everything would be alright after all.
