Escaped

"Nagpunta ka ba rito para ibigay sa akin 'to?"

Reighn nodded.

I smiled and nodded. "Okay, then. You're right." Kinuha ko ang kamay niya at ibinalik ang DNA tests result na binigay niya sa 'kin.

I watched their lips frown.

"Okay? 'Yon na 'yon?" komento ni Keevah.

I shrugged my shoulders. I noticed how Reighn gasped.

"That's it? Come on, Sonnet? You have no idea how desperate he is makuha ka lang dito."

I averted my gaze at Reighn who was now stomping out of the room.

"He is a very kind man. I was still young when my mother died, yet he took care of me as if I was her child. He raised me and my brother with unconditional love, Sonnet."

I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"Wait. Sino sa mga kapatid mo? Iyong dalawang choknat o 'yong dalawang pogi?" Pumagitna si Keevah.

"My brothers," Reighn answered.

"So, you mean, 'yong daddy ni Arlo... is 'yong tatay ni Sonnet?" naguguluhang tanong ni Keevah.

I already knew how Reighn grew up. Her mother died and their neighbor took care of her, but Reighn's biological dad took her.

"Arlo was his only child, but he took care of me and my other brother," bulalas niya at muling napadpad ang tingin niya sa akin.

I raised my eyebrows. "What do you expect me to do? Tumalon-talon ako sa saya?" I sarcastically said.

She rolled her eyes and took a deep breath. "Gusto ka niyang makita. Matanda na siya ngayon, Sonnet. At least..." she sighed. "You can just at least meet him; he's been longing to meet his daughter."

Muling pumagitna ulit si Keevah. "Wait! So, meaning, kapatid din ni Sonnet si Arlo?"

My forehead creased and turned my view at Reighn.

"No. Papa said Arlo was his son from his first love. Sonnet was his first daughter from his last love," she answered.

Reighn found my family, the family where I originally came from.

She was also right, Arlo resembles me a little.

But the saddest part, how about Kuya? Knowing that I have a stepbrother that is most likely related to me and Kuya was just a stranger who became my family.

But what's the difference? Kuya is the only brother I have known since I grew up and I have known Arlo as my friend's fiancé.

A single tear fell so I immediately averted my gaze at them.

"Hala ka! Bakit ka umiiyak 'te? Ayaw mo no'n? Nadagdagan ka ng poging kapatid — Ouch!" daing ni Keevah nang bigla batukan siya ni Reighn.

"I am not forcing you to meet them, pinaaalahanan lang kita. We don't know what may happen, baka pagsisihan mo ang kung ano mang desiyon mo sa huli," Reighn uttered.

Isang malalim na paghinga ang ginawa ko. "Hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko kapag makita ko siya..."

Reighn raised my chin, slowly. She smiled a little and patted my head. "You've said the same thing he said to me earlier."

"At... hindi ko rin alam kung paano 'to sasabihin kay Kuya..." I added.

Hindi pa kami nagkakabati simula kahapon. Buong magdamag akong nasa kwarto at wala akong balak na lumabas.
