"Where's Lei?"
Tariq slowly handed me a piece of paper. I couldn't control my hands trembling. Beads of sweat were dripping down, and my heart was racing.

My lips parted after I read the note. It sends shivers into my body as I felt a lump in my throat. Nakita ko ang paghilamos ni Tariq sa kanyang mukha nang mapatingin ako sa kanya.
Matapos kong matanggap ang tawag niya, mabilis kaming pumunta ni Kuya sa bahay nila. We can't waste time. Hindi namin alam kung ano ang maaaring gawin ni Lei kay Sadie.
"Have you tracked her?" I heard Kuya ask someone on the phone.
"She's in an abandoned warehouse near Sienna," Kuya said when he turned his attention to us.
I sighed, heavily. "What are we going to do now? How did this happen, Kuya?! Let's do something!" I yelled out of frustration.
"Police said she killed her inmates. She made a fuss inside and got a chance to go out," Kuya explained.
We are all fucked up! Tangina talaga!
"So, what are we going to wait for? Papatayin niya si Lei!" sigaw ko.
"Tariq, how is it that Lei was the one who got abducted?" Kuya asked.
"Mag-isa lang si Lei rito. Nasa trabaho ako, tumawag siya sa 'kin, humihingi... ng tulong," sagot niya. Nararamdaman ko ang pagiging kabado niya at pag-aalala sa kapatid.
"Where did you get this piece of paper?" I asked, about the piece of paper he gave me.
"Nang dumating ako wala na si Lei rito, pero nakita ko 'yan."
Bumaling muli si Kuya sa 'min.
"Cops will help us. Tariq, go with me. Sonnet, hindi ka puwedeng sumama. Maiiwan ka rito."
My forehead creased after what I heard.
Ano? Ako? Iiwan niya rito? Is he out of his mind?
"Are you serious, Kuya? I can't just stand here and do nothing! Sasama ako!" I yelled.
He threw me a blank stare.
"She's after you. Can't you understand? Hindi niya papatayin si Lei. Ikaw ang papatayin niya. She's taking Lei as a hostage," he uttered.
I gasped. "Kaya ko ang sarili ko! Hindi pwedeng tumunganga na lang ako rito! Knowing that someone's life is at stake because of me!"
Tariq held my hand and patted my shoulder.
"Tama ang Kuya mo. Hindi ka pwedeng sumama."
I glared at them. "What if kayo ang mapahamak dahil sa 'kin? I can't let that happen!"
Kuya let out a loud sigh. "Sonnet, stay here... please. Nothing will happen, we'll bring Lei safely."
No!
I gritted my teeth. "I don't believe in promises."
Hindi ako sinagot ni Kuya at nilampasan lang habang pinanood ko siyang naunang lumabas.
Hindi ako papayag na maiiwan lang ako rito. Mamatay ako sa konsensya ko kapag nagpaiwan ako!
"Pinoprotektahan ka lang ng kapatid mo. Pero makakaasa kang iuuwi namin si Lei, 'wag kang mag-alala."
