When You Least Expect It

I think she wants to adopt you

The Teen Vogue issue has come out and I've gotten alot of positive responses to it but their has been the odd hate comment but I've tried my best not to let it get to me. I've been focused on work but in an attempt to distract me Andrew has asked me to meet his family whilst their in visiting. They've been in LA but have decided to come to New York for a short visit. We're heading out to dinner nothing too fancy so I've dressed as such in jeans and a cardigan with some heels just to be a little dressier. I get to the restaurant and I'm shown to our table "Mum Dad this is Sage, Sage my parents Richard and Lynn" Andrew says "Nice to meet you both" I say and we hug and then Andrew pulls out my chair for me and I sit "Your even prettier in person" she says "Thank you but don't be fooled by the pictures in the press make up works wonders" I say "I saw the Teen Vogue issue and I know your hard on yourself but you are a beautiful person inside and out" she says "Thank you again. I've always struggled with compliments because of my ed, I never believed anyone could see me as beautiful and my parents struggled really hard with that and they worked with me to get me past that but with other people it's still difficult so I appreciate what you said" I say "Your welcome" she says and she gives my hand a squeeze from her seat beside me.

We order our food and the conversation keeps going and we talk about family mine and Andrew's "I'd have loved to meet Ben the work he does is really special. I have a great respect for doctors and the work they do especially those who help give people a second chance at life and a future" I say "We're very proud of both our boys" Richard says "You raised some good ones" I say "You guys can meet when he comes to visit next year their gonna come out when I'm here filming Spiderman" he says "Sounds great. I'm planning for Wren to come stay with me around that time too so I'll take full responsibility for planning kid friendly stuff to do" I say "Great" he says "Andrew mentioned you two are gonna be costars that must be exciting for you both" she says "It is I'm nervous about stepping into such iconic shoes as MJ but I'm excited about the vision they have for her. It's gonna be very true to the comics and I think Marc is maybe changing the storyline a little to introduce her a little earlier in the movie than planned" I say "I'm excited to work together and create that Peter MJ dynamic on screen" he says "I also potentially get to date Dane DeHann so its a win win for me really. I'm very flirty as MJ complete opposite of me" I say and my phone starts ringing "Its my mom one second" I say.

I step outside to take the call "Hi mom" I say "Hi sweetheart I'm just checking in after the Teen Vogue interview" she says "I'm good I made the decision to talk about it and its part of my healing process. My therapist always said I should be open with others about it. Telling Andrew was a step towards that and telling the world was another. It was long overdue" I say "As your mother I have to ask because we have an instinct about these things. Do you have feelings for him" she says "I have had feelings but like I said in the Teen Vogue interview I can't describe our relationship because I don't know what it is. I think on some level their may be reciprocated feelings but on another we're both happy being friends" I say "Whatever it is I feel like it could be something special" she says "Thanks mom. I better go I'm out for dinner with Andrew and his parents" I say "Your meeting his parents" she says "He's met my entire family its only fair" I say "True. Enjoy I love you" she says "I will. Love you too. Talk soon" I say and hang up and head back inside.

We finish up dinner and Andrew sends his parents back to their hotel whilst he grabs a taxi with me to make sure I get home okay "I think my mum may want to adopt you. She says she's happy with two boys but I think she's always secretly wanted a daughter" he says "Well she'd have to fight my mom to have me and I'm not entirely sure who'd win that fight if I'm honest" I say "Me neither" he says. We pull up to my house "We've been friends for two months now and I've never seen your house before" he says "One because you live in LA and two you've never asked" I say "I'm asking now" he says "Okay then" I say and we pay the driver and I get my keys out and open my door and then enter my security code and hang up my coat and bag "Follow me for the grand tour" I say and Orion comes running out when I open the living room door "This is Odin my baby" I say and give him a cuddle and Andrew pets him "My living room lots of plants most are fake because I can't travel and keep plants alive,art Briar picked out for me my amazing too big for one person comfiest couch ever. Big fireplace for New York winters, lots of books hence the massive bookshelves. Then we have the archway which leads to my kitchen my pride and joy which my dad helped me deck out with all the best appliances and this amazing breakfast nook where I sit in the mornings with a coffee when I have time. I had this toxic relationship with food but my dad and my grandma and mom helped me love food again so this kitchen means alot to me. Bathroom is pretty boring upstairs we have two guests rooms one of which is exclusively Wren's room he helped decorate and another bathroom and my room. So there it is the grand tour" I say "I like it. Its definitely your space" he says "Thanks" I say "I'm gonna go. See you soon" he says "Okay goodnight" I say "Goodnight" he says.
