Serana's POV:
"Serana!" Lily called. "You're going to want to see this." I laid Emily's head in the ground. I jogged up the stairs.
"Lils? Where are you?" I asked, trying to ignore the messiness.
"In the bedroom." I trotted over to the bedroom and stepped inside.
"What is it?" I asked. Lily wasn't afraid, more as worried. She pointed to the hangers on the floor.
Laying amidst them, was a bloody knife. It looked like a craving knife. Blood was dried on to it.
"I don't...I don't understand," I said, stepping backwards.
"I believe, whoever broke in wanted something. Charlie took whatever it was and ran up here. she tabbed the knife and was pursued by who're was here. She cut one of the people and ran to hide in the closet. They found her and dragged her out. She dropped the knife as she tried to wrestle herself free of the people. They dragged her back down the stairs," Lily said. I sighed, telling myself to breathe.
"Wow. You're good," I said. Lily smiled.
"I know."
"Guess we should find, Jackie-" Matthew burst into the room.
"Found him!" Lily yelled. I glared at her.
"Guys, we need to leave," Matthew said, breathless.
"Why?"
"I called the police. The medics are taking care of Emily. But the cops will want to talk to us. It Charlie was taken, we don't have time to talk," he said, walking over to the window. I turned to Lily.
"First, how did you know there was more than one person?"
"I found a dust print and a blood print. The shoes were different sizes," She said.
"One foot could have been bigger."
"I thought of that too, but the tracks looked different.
"When is you figure all this out?"
"After I called you up."
"Huh."
"Guys! We're leaving so we don't have to stand around and talk," Matthew snapped. Lily and I ran over to him. He jumped out the window.
"Jackie!" I shouted. We were two stories up-
With a thud, he landed on a small over hang. I rolled my eyes.
"I liked it better when he was moppy and didn't talk. I jumped after him, and Lily after me. We jumped into the ground, ending in a roll. We scrambled into the alleyway. We were about to turn the corner and inconspicuously wall away, but Matthew skidded to a stop.
"What is it, Jackie?" I asked. he picked something off the ground.
"This is Charlottes," he said, holding up a bracelet. I looked at it.
"Lily, you're he detective, which way was she taken?" I asked. Lily grabbed the bracelet.
"They dragged her down the stairs, so they didn't go out the back. It means they went to the back," Lily said. We ran back the way we had come.
Charlie's backyard consisted mostly of grass and dirt with a very small patio. Lily immediately saw scuff and drag marks.
"So now you're a tracker too?" I asked her. She shrugged.
"I read a lot." She started walking forward. Matthew followed close behind.
"So do I," I grumbled.
Lily brought us to the edge of the yard, where she said Charlie was dragging over it. We hopped the fence.
Lily followed the track, even though I couldn't see it. She lead us, almost in a full sprint, into the woods. as we entered, she stopped.
"I've lost it," he breathed.
"What?" I asked.
"The trail," she spun around, "I've lost it!"
"What?" Matthew seethed. The three of us turned around.
"Let's split up, see if we can find anything," I said,"Lily, what are we looking for?"
"Er, snapped branches, pieces of cloth, scuff marks, stuff like that," Lily said. We nodded and split off in different directions.
I shuffled around the undergrowth. We'd run off the normal path into the thicker density of the woods. I knew these woods well, especially these parts. I came out here every summer month, on the full moon.
"I found some foot prints! But they seem to be old, a smaller than the ones you found in the apartment," Matthew said.
"Those are mine, keep looking!" I caught Lily's eye. I gave her a short nod. She knew were they came from.
As I turned back to my area, I spotted something closer to Lily. I ran towards it, leaping over the undergrowth. I stopped in front of the broken branch. It had broken around my hieght, so it couldn't have been me as a wolf. Charlie was near my hieght.
"Guys! Lily, could this be it?" I asked. Lily was next to me, taking the branch from my hand. She nodded.
"Look around here for something-"
"This was part of Charlie's shirt," Matthew said, holding up some cloth a few feet in front of us.
"Where are they taking her?" I asked Lily. She shrugged.
"I have no idea."
Lily continued to lead us deeper into the forest. Matthew found a few of my scratch marks on a tree, but Lily and I dismissed it, calling it an animal...which it was.
The sun slowly started sinking behind the trees.
"What happens when everything goes dark?" I asked.
"If we run out of light, I won't be able to track her anymore," Lily said, picking up her pace.
Soon, darkness fell over us and the trees.
"I can't see," Lily said, grabbing for her wand.
"Lils, if you're going to use your wand, now's the time to do it," I said.
"I can't find it. I must have lost it," she said," Where's yours?"
"I leave it at home when visiting Charlie."
"As do I." Lily sighed.
"I guess we'll have to do this the muggle way." Matthew groaned.
"You gotta problem with that, Jackie?" Lily snapped. I scanned the woods. in the distance, I saw something. Some sort of building...
"No, I don't have a problem with it. I just rather use my wand," Matthew replied.
"Guys." I said.
"You sure? Cause last time I checked, you were a Pureblood Slytherin and we all know Purebloods think they're better than us," Lily said.
"Guys."
"If you're implying that I, in any way, believe the same things the people who killed my parents believe, you are wrong, Lily Evans," Matthew growled.
"Guys!" I yelled. The two turned to me, "Lily, Jackie is known as a blood-traitor to the other Purebloods because of his respect for muggles and muggle-borns. Matthew, Lily is super sensitive about being muggle-born. So can you both shut up and listen to me when I tell you I found a building?" I pointed towards the building after I finished.
"Rani, you're brilliant," Lily said.
"I know." Matthew hugged me.
"Let's go," I said.
"Wait, no plan?" Matthew asked.
"We go in, get Charlie, get out. That's the plan,"Lily said. Matthew shrugged.
We turned to run towards the house, when three black shadows appeared bearing white cloths. They pressed the clothes against our mouths.
I held my breath, trying to pry the hands from my face, but they were too strong.
I struggle, but after a while, I needed to breathe. I took in a short breath, but it was enough. Whatever the cloth was, knocked me out in seconds. The last thing I saw was Lily and Matthew's limo bodies being dragged towards the house.
