Extrodinary

Henry Samuels

When a short little red head walked into my sun room, I couldn't help but look at the charming beauty she held. I could see my wife smirking at the beautiful woman that was mated to my idiotic son. All I could do was think about how he was able to walk away from the bond that was entwined between him and his mate. Initially I wondered if my son had looked at her appearance on the outside, but she was extrodinary.

When I tried to offer her my condolences and apologies she simply shut me down with a confidence and grace that reminded me of my sweet mate Amy. She logically asked whether I had educated my son on the role and importance of mates and what would happen if he choose to ignore the Goddess' blessing. When I confirmed that both me and my mate had these conversations with him, she simply shut my apologies down and told me that it was not me who needed to apologise.

She was so elegant and well-versed, she held a certain maturity about her that was wise beyond her years. After one conversation, I could see how well equipped she would have been as a Luna. Without any training she would have been just as good as my Amy. With Amy teaching her the ways of the pack we could have had one of the best Luna's in America. I couldn't help but shake my head in disappointment.

She showed no bitterness, no ill-will to me or my family. When I asked her about her story and her background I was happy that she was willing to share with me her hardships. She had overcome so many trials and tribulations that if it was any other she-wolf they would have simply given up. Yet the woman who sat in front of me, persevered, she not only made something of herself but she was extremely humble and kind. She dedicated years of her life to the service of supporting families and protecting children. Without even realising it, she was the perfect Luna.

By the end of the evening, she was telling me of her fiancé Seth and how he helped her heal. I did pry and ask about her wolf. She simply explained that her wolf saw something in Seth that made her feel safe. She told me about how she was sceptical at first due to his extensive history of being a bad boy, but he wore her down. Ellie told me it was her wolf who encouraged her to give him a chance as his intentions were pure.

I couldn't deny that I was shocked that her wolf had accepted someone who was not her mate but how could I intervene and beg her to give my son a chance when he truly didn't deserve her. He would have never claimed her if Chloe wasn't caught. He would have continued to live with his fake mate. There was this innate need in me to protect this woman. For if my son had made the right decision she would have been my daughter-in-law. I was lucky that she even agreed to meet with me.

Chloe was another story all together. When Thomas told me about his relationship with that she-wolf I couldn't help the disappointment that settled in my stomach. She was very self-absorbed and self-righteous. She came from a strong line of Gamma's and although her father was a good man, his mate - she was another story. My wife never got a long with her, she was a woman who put up a facade and her actions towards the pack were limited to her own self-interest. My wife couldn't help but see the similarities between the mother and daughter duo. She was very upset when Thomas announced that he was his true mate.

As the sun began to settle and the tea that was prepared by my wife finished, we were well into the evening. Ellie explained that she was tired and would need to find her uncle before she settled down for the night. I knew that tomorrow was a big day for her. The council would be attending and they would be carrying out their enquiry. She bowed her head and made her way out of our humble abode. Again, I couldn't help but see how impeccably well mannered she was.

Even though my wife went to bed and Ellie had left. I sat in the sun room which was now filled with the night sky. The moon was hanging and the stars were shining bright. Not a cloud was in sight. There was a serenity that filled me despite the turbulent winds that were ahead. I knew that my heart was torn between an ungrateful son and a good she-wolf who was wronged by my own kin. My wolf whispered in my ear that even though I was an father, I was still an Alpha and I had a responsibility and trait to protect those I believed were at harm.
