"Why do you sound like you're trying to convince me?"

_________

IF THINGS START LOOKING BRIGHT, you could always depend on something to go horribly wrong at the last minute. Because, as it seemed, that was the situation for Charles and Andie. At the moment of their unfortunate incident, Charles could only stammer and mix up his words in making their alibi, making his explanation sound more like a sad excuse than what he intended it to be. Andie bit her lip in shame and worry, wishing that he would just shut up... but it wasn't like she could come up with any better an explanation without sounding exactly like him.

Laurie knew she caught them at the worst moment she could catch them at and she knew that the PR staff behind her wouldn't stop themselves from jumping to conclusions. As she turned around and saw that their faces indeed included wide eyes, dropped jaws, and cheekily knowing smirks, she bit her lip and shooed them away.

She was as panicked as the two racers were. She didn't know what to do. Among those PR members were representatives from media outlets, hoping to get a scoop on the Ferrari drivers' day before the race weekend started. Oh and boy, did they get a scoop alright.

Laurie was able to calm the two down and find out what really happened and thankfully, it really wasn't what it looked like... but dealing with the witnesses was a whole different story. Though, that was her job and she did prepare for situations like these if ever they were to happen but never did she think they actually would happen.

It was going to be a total headache to deal with them.

She reassured the drivers that she would have a stern talk with whoever saw them and explain the situation. However, she also had to remind them that even though she can promise no articles would come out the next day, rumors would still be out of her control but she would do her best to contain them. Laurie also noted that she'd have to report what happened to Binotto herself.

They were then instructed to just go to the kitchen quietly and do their best to stay low-key. They had to have their dinner to-go and head back to the hotel as soon as possible.

And that was what they did.

But this time, they headed back by themselves with Charles driving and Andie in the passenger seat. It was just the two of them. It was quiet but, fortunately, it wasn't painfully awkward anymore, which was a progressive leap forward for them. Though, they were both waiting for someone to address the elephant in the room and what to do with it... but obviously, they didn't know how.

Charles turned the radio on just loud enough to drown the growing silence in the car as it came to a stop, stuck in traffic. He also took this time to finally check in on the agitated mess of a driver beside him.

"Ça va?" He asked, looking at her and noticing that she was just blankly staring at the red traffic light above.

Andie was mindlessly tapping her fingers on her lap,"I feel like hiding under a rock."
