Chapter 16

Author's POV

A/N: Hello everyone! decided I would post on my birthday today to honor the new ep of Demon Slayer which also came out today on my birthday! :D This chapter will have references to demon slayer and possibly some spoilers but not really.

Anyways! get ready for angst because I cried while writing this :') also #jinzixuanandweiwuxianbrothership and #jinguangyaoweiwuxiansiblingrelationship bc yes plz also watch the video above as the chapter references a bit and also just to cry a bit more because there is never enough angst :'D

There was a horrifying silence in the room as most felt like throwing up after seeing the brutal slaughter of the Wens and Wei Wuxian's heartbroken expression as he said farewell to the young A-Yuan.

Jiang Yanli was grateful she was sitting down or else she would have fallen over, is this what had happened after her death? She willingly gave up her life for her beloved A-Xian so that he could live and be happy but the world blamed him and took away that little happiness he had.

She looked to A-Cheng with shock who looked like he was about to be sick at the scene before him but he also had a guilty look on his face, she was disappointed with him but most importantly, she was disgusted by the world, they didn't even spare the elderly and the children, the people her brother gave up everything for.

His kind and pure heart never held any hatred, he was too good for them. These monsters did not even hold their part of the agreement, they were the reason lady Wen and her brother's sacrifice was left in vain.

She remembered the happy expression her Xianxian had when he left the mounds to sell radishes not even thinking such a tragedy would strike just hours later, she silently sobbed for her poor A-Xian who was mercilessly wronged by this cruel world yet he still remained pure like a white lotus willing to protect them till the end.

Her death was orchestrated she knew and so was her husbands', these people knew her XianXian loved her to death and relied on her for support so they decided to make him lose it to frame him. She hated them from the bottom of her heart, they made her family tear apart and turn against each other, they made him suffer so much, She knew her brother better than anyone else and her heart hurt seeing that expression on his face.

The heartbroken look reminded her of the time when they were children and her mother reprimanded A-Xian constantly. She had been the one to comfort him and hear his cries, after all, he had that same look on his face when Lotus Pier was burned. She firmly believes her A-Xian's self-sacrificing and blaming himself is the fault of her mother's abuse towards him.

She wishes she could be there and love her sweet XianXian, to tell him everything will alright, that his Shijie can fix everything but...she can't. She could only watch as her pure-hearted brother suffered at the hands of these cruel monsters.

Jiang Cheng knew it was wrong of him to blame his brother for the death of their sister, she chose to do it because of her love for them. He has no doubt that they would have done the same thing if it was the other but at that time he was way too heartbroken and driven by his anger to think clearly and he hates himself for it.

He made his sister's sacrifice worthless, she loved them both and willingly died for them, instead of honoring that and protecting his brother he led a siege on him and killed him. He brutally murdered those who his brother gave up everything to protect, he failed as a brother and as a sect leader.
