Chapter 29
Author's POV
It had been a few days since Fayre and Wuxian arrived in Seoul, they took a few days to rest and explore the bustling city, from its culture to its food, and finally to its people. Korea was truly an amazing country! Today they had decided to travel to Busan as they had heard it was a much calmer city. A festival was also being held in Busan that day so it was a win-win! Wei Wuxian was already drooling at the thought of the amazing festival food they would be blessed with.
The two quickly got ready after a simple and comforting breakfast consisting of chicken pho rice and eggs. They had already packed beforehand so all they had to do was to get to Busan. They could have used portals or sword flight but Fayre insisted they go on a wooden cart to truly experience the local life.
Wei Wuxian ended up agreeing due to his curiosity and the pair began their long and tiring journey to Busan. After nearly traveling for a day and a half they finally reached their destination.
After thanking the old man and paying him the two set on their way to explore, and what greeted them was a beautiful and peaceful city, bustling with life and joy. Lovely and calming scenery, king and welcoming people, and the delicious smell of food.
The two turned to each other with an excited smile thinking 'Oh yeah, this will be amazing!!!'
The first thing they did was to settle down, a local old woman was kind enough to lend them one of her estates for the time being, the both of them unpacked, freshened up, and changed. The next step? find food!!!!
Stepping out into the local streets, they were greeted with the daily life of the city, merchants and shop owners calling out to people to come visit them, children playing in the streets, and families enjoying time together. It was quite refreshing to see honestly, they ended up eating at a local restaurant and having a nice chat with the owner about the city and its history. They even got more info on the upcoming festival!
It was known as the Busan Lotus Lantern Festival. An occasion in which all citizens unite and light lanterns together. Lanterns hold a special meaning to Koreans, that of brightening up the dark and carrying hopes and wishes, a lotus lantern in particular symbolizes lightening the heart darkened by worldly desires and selfishness.
Hearing this, Wei Wuxian's eyes lit up like a lantern, he absolutely adored lanterns and their symbolism, it always reminded him of that faithful festival all those years ago when he made his three wishes. It also reminds him of the 800 lanterns Cheng-ge lights up every year for Lian-ge.
Fayre equally as excited asked the owner about the traditions and clothing to which he kindly answered and gave them directions to the local seamstress. Ji-Yeon the seamstress, was known to be a talented young woman with a fierce yet kind personality.
From a young age, she had many talents and was quite active, she had lived a happy childhood and married a young man at the age of 19. It was known that her husband was incredibly supportive of his wife and always encouraged her, he was her pillar and other half. The two were never apart from each other until last year when he unfortunately passed away due to illness.
Ji-Yeon took quite a hit and was incredibly depressed, but she was a strong woman and for the sake of her beloved, she continued her work swearing to make him proud. When Fayre Yang and Wei Wuxian entered her shop, they were instantly greeted with an atmosphere of warmth and hard work. The smell of fresh fabric was strong in the air, followed by the sounds of scissors.
