Chapter 43 {Quest Completed!}

"Welcome back, girls!"

Clara's smile greeted them as they entered the guild. However, looking at their beat-up and exhausted appearances, the older woman couldn't help but sweat a little. My, these girls couldn't get a break.

The girls, as exhausted as they seemed, quickly made their way to the cafeteria area. Though none verbally responded back, Cynthia did give the blonde woman a weak smile before planting her face onto their table. Smack.

Rafael looked concerned at the loud impact and sweatdropped. "Is this gonna be a normal occurrence?" The dark-haired male recalled them from their first quest. With a shake of his head, he and Atlas, as usual, approached the girls.

Cynthia mumbled something unintelligible against the table. At least to him.

"Probably yes, she said." Rosalyn managed to translate for her. She was looking tired as well, sitting beside the blonde girl. Then, Cynthia had mumbled more, "also get me a chicken sandwich and a glass of orange juice, please." Roselyn helped order for her along with her own order. With that, the others also ordered their meals.

"My my my, you girls looked wracked." Clara smiled sympathizing when she finally arrived with their dishes. All she received were hungry and tired groans. "Now now there, I received a call from the Mayor and you, girls did an amazing job!"

"Ooo!" Atlas had jumped towards them. "What did you guys do?!" He peered down at them with great curiosity.

"We...killed..." Cynthia mumbled as she swallowed a bite of her chicken sandwich. "...some monsters because of a stupid dumb rock thingy." She grumbled, taking another angry bite.

This explanation of hers made Rafael and Atlas turned to the rest for more context. A scoff was also made at that description. Koda had rested an elbow on their table, looking unimpressed, "what type of shit-ass explanation is that?"

His teammates looked at him with raised brows. When did he get there? And since when he was so interested in the girls' quest?

"What?" The brunette male snapped at the looks. Even Avelyn who he had sat beside, had given him a tired yet annoyed look. She looked like a hissy cat.

"It went like this..." Erina tiredly sighed as she began to tell their tale before a fight could break out.

~ Flashback ~

...After they managed to escape through the tunnel. They were on their way to find the Queen. According to Avelyn, Dark Kulid's Queen would be hidden in the centre of the nest.

"Okay, now how are we gonna get there?" Kathryn asked, slumping to her knee. She was trying to conserve her strength, her magic was slowly draining from making these tunnels.

Avelyn breathed out, "I...don't really know." She was also growing tired. The knowledge of flora and fauna is her speciality but navigating? No—

"We should head north."

They blinked turning to the pinkette. Right, they had Yumi. The girl was busy glancing at a compass and sketch pad in hand.

"...r-right." Kathryn nodded and continued to dig a tunnel in the direction she had pointed. Another reminder of why that pinkette was also the acting leader for this quest. As she focused on the tunnel, Roselyn quickly rushed to Avelyn's side after she had healed and energized a very exhausted Cynthia. That Fire-Wave attack had taken a lot from her, more than she had expected.

The brunette, however, pushed her hands away. "No. No. I'm alright." She didn't want her to waste her magic on energizing her.

"Yeah. No." Roselyn rejected her refusal. She merely gave a passive-aggressive smile. If she is gonna heal or energize you, you better let her do it. And unfortunately, her team just have plenty of individuals that don't seem to know when to ask for help or just stop.
