I made my way up to the porch and I could hear Dad yelling abuse and threats behind me. Jisung's small hands were wrapped around my forearm and he kept glancing up at me with those huge round orbs that made me knees weak. I had to protect him at all costs.

"Go straight to your room drop Jisung off and meet me in the study young man!" He commanded. I nodded and swallowed hard. I led Jisung up to my room and sat him on my bed carefully. He was still shaking and kept blinking back tears that were threatening to roll down his cheeks.

"W-Wait. Is he gonna hurt you?" He asked with his wide eyes darting between my own. I rested my hand on his cute puffy cheek and ran my thumb over his face. I rooted in my pocket and found the headphones I had stuffed in there earlier.

"Put these in. Don't take them out no matter what. Got it?" I asked as I smiled at him. My heart was already racing. He shook his head defiantly at me, and moved to get to his feet.

"Let me talk to him." He insisted, trying to move his small body past mine. My hands found their way to his waist and I pulled him back down to the bed.

"No! J-Jisung, no." I gently stroked his face once more and pressed my forehead to his. My sweet innocent little boy. "It won't help. Don't worry. I'll come to you when we're done. OK?" He frowned and nodded apprehensively at me.

"Be safe." He whispered. I stood and winked at him. I quickly turned and walked out of the door.

I had no idea what was awaiting me downstairs.

"A-Appa." I practically whispered as I poked my head around the door into the large, dimly lit room. A glass flew at the door and smashed next to my head. A sharp shard flew at me and sliced my face. I quickly entered and closed the door firmly behind me.

"What the fuck were you thinking?!" He demanded angrily. I flinched and stared down at my beaten up converses. I wiggled my toes and watched them prod at the rubber tip.

"I-I'm sorry Appa." I said pathetically. My father was the only one who I had ever been afraid of. He was the reason I was strong though.

"Sorry? SORRY?" He roared. He approached me and his fingers wrapped themselves tightly around my neck. My feet were just lifting from the floor and I gasped for air that my lungs desperately needed. I didn't dare to fight him. It made him worse. He finally released me and I gulped in air, trying to soothe the burning in my chest. I coughed a couple of times and gently massaged my neck as I doubled over.

"I didn't know Appa. Not until this week. When we met Ms Lee. I-I told him I wasn't going to sell to him anymore as soon as I found out." I tried to defend myself but he wasn't listening.

Of course he knew I sold drugs. He was where they came from. He was angry because it was Felix. No other reason.

"You're a fucking idiot Minho!" He slapped my face hard and I stood back up straight. I leaned against the door and prayed something or someone would call him away.

"I-I know." I said quietly. "I-I'm sorry." It wasn't helping. The vein in his head was bulging dangerously and his usually tidy hair was sticking out at funny angles. He took his glasses off and massaged the bridge of his pointy triangular nose with his forefinger and thumb. He took a deep breath and then it began.

The beating I had been expecting. He sunk his fist into my gut and I doubled over. I didn't get a chance to make a noise. He punched me in the face, and his foot sank into my already sore stomach. I dropped to the floor as my knees gave out and watched as my own crimson blood formed a puddled around my face.

Fuck.

Where was Hyunjin when I needed him? Dad had always favoured him, and made no secret of his disdain for his weird nerdy biological son.
