"Here's the last box Mom." I said as I brought it out to the truck. I loaded it up and she smiled brightly at me. The back of my hand slid over my forehead, removing sweat and I rubbed my dirty hands against my pants.
"Thank you my boy." She said as she pinched my cheek gently. Today was moving day.
Well for Mom and I. Jisung had been weird lately and insisted on staying at Mr Lee's after the night I was hospitalised. He had been over and packed his things up with Minho. Now we just had to take them there.
"That's everything. The house is empty." Hyunjin appeared next to me and Mom wrapped her arms around him.
"What would I do without my two best boys?" She said happily.
"Ooft Mom. I'm gonna tell Jisung you said that." She laughed and slapped my arm playfully. She had been so much happier recently and I was so glad she had found herself again. If Mr Lee was the cause of this shift in mood, I couldn't want to meet him.
I was also feeling a lot better, although I was still plagued with thoughts of my Father. Therapy was finally doing its job now that I wasn't poisoning my brain my drugs, and I was making some major breakthroughs.
"You ready Hyunjin dear? I'm so sorry you're going to be sharing a room. Are you sure you don't mind?" She asked him for the hundredth time.
"Mom, what exactly do you think I'm gonna do to him? Bully him? He's stronger than me and taller. He'll be fine. You should be apologising to me. I have to listen to him snore." Hyunjin shoved me playfully and I punched him in the arm.
"Now now children!" She said as she slapped us both. We giggled like school kids and both got into the truck. It was cool to be moving in with Hyunjin and Leeknow. It was weird because I still hadn't officially met Mr Lee, but I was excited to.
I knew he had been at the hospital, but he had been called away on business shortly after, and every time he was home, I had been busy.
But this was our chance at a fresh start. Fresh school. Fresh friends. New family.
"You ok Lix?" Hyunjin draped his arm around my shoulders and I grinned at him.
"Yeah bro. I can't wait to get into our room and redecorate." I winked at him playfully and he gently pinched my neck.
"Yah! Touch my posters and you die." He warned. I laughed and put my hand to my mouth. Hyunjin and I had become best friends and it felt so good to be around him. Mom had forgiven him once I was out of hospital, but she was still angry at Leeknow. I had told her it was entirely my fault, but for some reason, he had taken the brunt of both our parents anger.
"Lix... Lix we're here." Hyunjin gently shook my arm and I opened my eyes. I didn't even realise I had fallen asleep in the ten minute drive. I blinked groggily and rubbed at my eyes.
"Sorry Jin. I must have been tired." I said as I yawned loudly and stretched my arms high above my head.
"Uh-Huh that's great, but can you move? My bladder is about three seconds away from exploding." I grinned up at him, and decided to fuck around.
"Say please."
"Please!" He said loudly.
"Say pretty please oh handsome Lix-" He growled and climbed over me. I burst out laughing and he rushed to one of the decorative hedges at the side of the drive.
"Fuck you Lix!" He flipped me off over his shoulder as he relieved himself. I laughed loudly and my Mum shook her head in disbelief.
"Why did I agree to move four teenage boys in together? Lord give me strength!" She said with a heavy sigh. I snorted and leaned over to hug her.
