The next morning we kept walking, having no idea where to go and Blight now lead the group beside me. Me and Blight shared some conversation, some involved concern for Wiress who seemed to be dipping deeper into insanity. She's begun to chant the same thing over and over again like a prayer.

"Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock."

Beetee ruled out insanity, reminding us of the heat and saying that she might be going through a heat stroke. That's when I really started getting worried, wondering how long we were going to last without water. We hadn't found any yet and I could feel my body weakening. Johanna wasn't going to say it but I know she felt the heat get to her too.

Blight wiped his forehead with his arm and walked heavily while I began dragging my feet against the damp dirt. The humidity was getting heavier the further we went into the jungle. It made me think that maybe we should turn around and head back.

Then, something happened.

Suddenly, the bright sun disappeared above us by heavy red tinted clouds. I was confused for a second, trying not to think much of it but the others were looking up at it too. I think we all wanted to know why the clouds were colored red. But where there's heavy clouds, there's always rain, and this was no different.

It came down slowly at first, just a few drops on my skin here and there, but it felt weird. I looked down to my bare hands where a drop of the water had landed, but it wasn't water. It was thicker and a deep maroon color that burned a little. I looked up to the others as they all investigated the rain as well.

But when I realised what it was, it was too late and it began pouring down on us.

Red, scolding, hot, blood began pouring over us.

The blood burned my skin as it smashed against my body heavily. I, just like the others, was all drenched in the mysterious blood rain. We ran forward quickly, hoping to outrun it, but it felt as if it didn't matter where we went, the rain followed us like a dog. The blood covered my eyes and ran down my face, seeping into my wetsuit. My hair stuck to the side of my face as the sweat was washed away by the 'rain'.

Me and Blight were still leading and the others weren't too far behind us and I could hear them all shouting as the scolding blood burned their skin. I tried to ignore it but it got harder as the rain seemed to come in thicker and hotter the deeper we went. I knew we had to turn back, if we didn't then we were going to end up drowned in the blood rain. Maybe we'd be safer at the Cornucopia.

"Guys!" I shouted over the storm but even then I didn't know if I was heard. But I was cause they all looked at me. "We should head back to the Cornucopia!"

"Are you crazy?!" Johanna shouted to me, spitting out the blood that ran into her mouth. "The Careers are going to be there!"

"Unless you want your cause of death to be drowned in or get burned to death by blood then I'd say it dosnt fu*king matter!" I screamed back at her, also spitting out the blood in my mouth. It tasted like metal and burned my tongue.

Before Johnna could say anything else, over the heavy loud blood rain that pounded on my head, a huge zapping sound screeched through my ears. I screamed as I turned to see a bright light of sparks burning my eyes and a body flung towards us.

"Holy shit!" I screamed, ignoring the pounding rain and screaming for me to stay away.

I skidded down on my knees, throwing myself atop Blight as smoke came off of him. He wasn't moving and I shook him a few times, hoping he'd get up. When that didn't work, I checked his pulse but still nothing so I put my hand over my other and began pressing down on his chest.
